  1. Artistic Swimming: Do our pair finish today in the top 5? YES Athletics: Do we win a gold today? NO Cycling Track: Do we win a gold medal today? NO Diving: Any Brits in the top 5 of the WOMEN'S Final? NO Golf: Do any Brits get at least par for the day? YES Marathon Swimming: Any Brits in the top 10? YES Modern Pentathlon: How many Brits make the final? 3 1 (edited at 9am - assume this question refers to Men only!) Sport Climbing: Does ROBERTS medal? YES

  3. Sorry, but this is an absolutely ridiculous comment. Hayter absolutely rode his balls off in an excellent Team Pursuit performance, and is still well in contention in the Omnium.
  4. MUCH better Fencing RR for the British women - Kate French 3rd, Kerenza Bryson 5th! Sets them up nicely to be right in the mix.
  5. Slight upset in the QF to decide Sinden's opponent - Jordanian 6th seed (a man without a Wikipedia page!) beat the Turkish 3rd seed.
  6. Gosh, yeah - looking back at previous competitions, that's Choong's gold medal hopes pretty much done and dusted (and possibly his chances of getting any medal at all). How gutting.
  7. This is just the Semi Final though, right? Does anyone know how many advance to the Final, and whether scores get reset at that point?
  8. Super-solid start for KJT - still don't think she's a serious contender for Gold, but 13.40 + 1.92 is very encouraging as far as Silver/Bronze are concerned.
  9. Confirmed: Erin McNeice will reach the Final! All three GB Sport Climbers still in with a shot at a medal.
  10. Great Lead run for Erin McNeice in the Sport Climbing. She started 10th, with 8 going through to the Final. So far she's overtaken two of the climbers ahead of her, so looking in good shape to advance.
  11. Athletics: Is JOHNSON-THOMPSON in the top 3 at the end of the day? YES Cycling Track: Does HAYTER get a medal? YES Diving: Do GB get a medal? YES Golf: Do any Brits end up par or better at the end of the day? NO Marathon Swimming: Does Crisp make the top 10? NO Modern Pentathlon: Do any Brits in either gender end up in the top 3 at the end of the day (including ties)? YES Sailing: Do we get a medal? YES Sport Climbing: Can any British WOMEN make the final? YES Taekwondo: Does SINDEN get a medal? YES
  12. That's extremely unlikely to happen though? We're 5th as things stand (and 4th for total medals), with lots of good opportunities still to come. If 20 golds is 'about' where we should be at, and we finish on 17 or 18, plus make it to the upper half of the target total medal band, plus finish 5th in the medal table, shouldn't that actually be considered a success, by UK Sport's own criteria?
  13. Oh god, it's frustrating for sure! But I don't think it warrants gnashing of teeth and rending of garments to quite the extent that some maybe do. And it's certainly not a sign that a) we're victims of terrible luck, or b) individual athletes are irredeemable failures because they just missed out on gold.
  14. Fantastic run - think 4th/5th is probably where she ends up, but that would still represent a great result.
  15. That was a mildly terrifying watch! Laugher and Houlden also both heading to the 3m Final, barring genuinely disastrous last dives.
  16. Athletics: Does Hudson-Smith win gold? YES Cycling Track: Do we win MEN'S Team Pursuit gold? NO Diving: Out of Houlden and Laugher, how many make the final? TWO Golf: Do any Brits end the day in the top ten? YES Sailing: Does BECKETT win gold? NO Sport Climbing: Does MCARTHUR qualify? NO
  17. I may be off by a couple in either direction (and I'm sure/I hope people will point out where I'm wrong!), but I reckon we have 33 legitimate medal chances left, in addition to the 46 already won, and the 1 secured in the Men's Team Pursuit: Should Medal (15): MHS (400m M) 4x400m M 4x100m W KJT (Heptathlon) Emma Finucane (Sprint W) Emma Finucane (Keirin W) Team Pursuit W Ethan Hayter (Omnium M) Hayter/Wood (Madison M) Barker/Evans (Madison W) Jack Laugher (3m Springboard M) Joe Choong (Modern Pentathlon M) Gimson/Burnet (Mixed Nacra 17) Ellie Aldridge (Kite W) Bradley Sinden (-68kg M) Could Medal (18): Shortman/Thorpe (Artistic Swimming Duet) Ben Pattison (800m M) 4x100m M Amber Anning (400m W) Laura Muir (1500m W) 4x400m W Jack Carlin (Sprint M) Jack Carlin (Keirin M) Noah Williams (10m Platform M) Charley Hull/Georgia Hall (Golf W) Kerenza Bryson/Kate French (Modern Pentathlon W) Connor Bainbridge (Kite M) Michael Beckett (ILCA7 M) Toby Roberts (Boulder & Lead M) Hector Pardoe (10km Open Water M) Jade Jones (-57kg W) Rebecca McGowan (+67kg W) Emily Campbell (+81kg W) Bold = Gold contender. Obviously not all of the 15 will come in, but from that list of 33 it's not unreasonable to think we could get 18-20 medals and 6 Golds, which would leave us on 18 Golds and 65-67 total medals...
  18. Nah, she wasn't getting there with a dip. Just gutting that Josh and DAS had Gold and Bronze with 15 metres to go, and just lost out at the death.
  19. Cosigned. The idea that the Olympics have 'turned south' for Team GB because we're racking up silvers and bronzes instead of golds is just absolute nonsense.
  20. Nervous now about the 1500m. Who do people have winning: Kerr, Ingebritsen, or someone else??
  21. John Gimson and Anna Burnet up into (joint) Bronze position in the Mixed Multihull, with just the medal race to come. Gold is out of reach, but the pair in silver are only six points (three places) ahead of Gimson/Burnet and the NZ pair.
