  1. It’s going to be very tough to call this one between Lisa and Aimee. Only person who has defeated Lisa in this in last 7 years is Aimee at nationals and then later 2 times in world cups this year
  2. For your kind info it’s called Te Reo. Māori are the native of Aotearoa New Zealand
  3. Haha. Maybe. Some people can’t just deal with facts. Wonder why their team misses out of qualifying
  4. I would’ve taken Australia comment fairly if they had actually dominated or were ranked as a top side. But clearly they aren’t. Regardless you’ve proven my point. Anyway 30 more days till we see the men’s team play.
  5. You’re literally saying you’d expect GB Seven’s team to compete with the likes of Fiji and Aussie. When clearly those 2 haven’t quite been dominant off recent history. Fiji men’s side might remain 2nd greatest Sevens nation of all time.
  6. That’s a bit harsh to ignore NZ who has the most successful Rugby 7s team of all time (both men’s and women’s)
  7. As a kiwi it’s hard to digest some of the things that were out of reach for us as a nation. 1. 3 Athletes/Team Beach Ferns - Lost to China in very controversial qualifiers semis match hosted in China part Beach Volleyball QF Black Sticks women missed out on Hockey QF due to poor loss to USA. They are much better team than that. 3 athletes narrowly missing out on spot - Taylor Reid for triathlon as we could only have 2 male go through due to team qualification and he was off by 1 rank. One of the top 2 male BMX & Mountain Biking will miss out which appears Bearman and Gaze will qualify and Bias and Cooper missing out. Finally no boxing QF for NZ. Many qualified athletes from Badminton, Gymnastics, Taekwondo, Archery and Table Tennis had qualified but NZOC has tough rules in regarding no tourist policy. They would only want to send athletes they see in potential top 8/16. Many ideal candidates who haven’t retired but took pro edition of their respective sports - David Nyaka in Boxing and Pete Burling & Blair Tuke 49er Sailing. 2. Sports/Events Canoe Sprint - Bring back Women’s K1- 200m. Track Cycling - Individual Pursuit - bring it back again. Squash - again LA 28 is too far Mountain Biking should feature 2 x events which should include XC Short Circuit Swimming - 50m Backstroke should feature at Olympics 3. Timing/Schedule Road Races should’ve been stretched away from Track Cycling which could’ve allowed Athletics starting very late. Should’ve been held in different ground not same as Rugby 7s. Why are men’s Rugby and Football starting 3 days before the opening?
  8. Well GB were gold medal winners and Team NZ were silver at the world champs last year so not sure if that either implies Italy being favs in any sort
  9. I didn’t mean that Team NZ would sweep gold medals. I just meant total medal haul could be well beyond expected based on the what people are predicting on here. I didn’t mean you specifically. Infact you are one of the few (or maybe the only one besides me) who has consistently mentioned of Team NZ do fairly well.
  10. Team NZ already had the edge over the Team GB twice in Nations cup back to back. They are inform team. Madison will see Botha and Wollaston rise to the occasion. Wollaston has had impressive year in tracks and roads but because she is solely focusing on Tracks for Paris she is likely to get podium in all 3 endurance race. She is fired up for Omnium
  11. Love how everyone is underestimating Team NZ 8 medals contenders 5 real shot at medals Men’s Madison (Gate and Stewart) Men’s Omnium (Gate) Men’s Team Pursuit (Gate, Stewart, Sexton, Hornblow) Women’s Team Pursuit (Botha, Wollaston, Shearman, Shields) Omnium (Wollaston) Madison (Wollaston and Botha) Women’s Sprint (Andrews) Women’s Keirin (Andrews) Women’s Team Sprint (Andrews, Patch and Fulton) It’s okay to underestimate the little ol’ kiwis. Just a reminder, 8 medals at UCI World Cup last year. Domination in Nations Cup since then.
  12. Looks like the Team GB is in bit of a dilemma Archibald’s injury may mean Wollaston would be eyeing for Omnium medal and Women’s team Pursuit might favour Team NZ
