  1. Canada's fastest time in the women's sprint was in qualifying and such a time would have given it a sure bronze medal in the finals. However, in the pursuit race they are simply weaker than Italy or France.
  2. Canada is certain to take bronze in the men's sprint. Italy is currently too weak to beat it.
  3. The plan has been done for Canada - 2 QOs have arrived, so there is nothing to get excited about. However, I`m worried about the poor form of the Italian women in the pursuit race - individually Balsamo and Consonni are in fantastic shape, but the team is not very well-coordinated With Great Britain, which focuses everything on the Olympics and its competitors only ride on the track, it1s difficult to win, but it`s already a worse time than France may be disturbing. France also has road racers and they are much less talented than the Italians.
  4. The Italians have no chance of winning gold in Paris Unfortunately, if you ride the entire season on the road, like Balsamo or Consonni, you can't beat the UK, which has Archibald focusing only on the track. The Italians would have to miss part of the road season to be able to fight for something big in Paris. And even any medal will be difficult to win, because New Zealand will come and France is close.

  6. They are 3 qualifies in Istambul, so he may have a repechage if, for example, he loses to a Salkazanov before final. What's worse is that Italian wrestling can only count on Chamizo to get the quota in Paris. The rest of the team is basically gone... One Chamizo won more fights today - 3, than the entire remaining Italian team combined - 2
  7. How do you see Chamizo chances against Bayramov in 1/2?
  8. Just because someone spends a lot of money badly does not mean that you have to reduce your funds and hope for a miracle. PSG also invests money poorly, but Man City is playing great with a lot of money. You definitely need to invest more in sports if you want to stay at the top of the class. medal
  9. The federation has probably bet everything on judo, which shows good results and prospects. Italian sport is underfunded and that's why sometimes you have to make difficult choices. I once saw Coni's calculations that less money is invested in Italian sport than in the 1990s. Without money, there will be no good coaches and modern training methods, unfortunately. Junior successes are important but they do not matter if it doesn`t translate into good results in seniors.

  11. The achievements of the Italian team are scandalous so far: 11 fights and 10 defeats in the first round + only 1 win for Nikoloz Kakhelashvili. The women's team didn't even put up a fight here and embarrassed themselves. I don't know what's the point of sending such weak players to the qualifying tournament? Italy's only chances are two aging freestyle competitors: Chamizo and Conyedo. There is no one young who would make progress or even fight. I don't know if there is something wrong with the financing of wrestling in Ita, e.g. at the cost of judo?). In any case, we need to think about what to do with this team after 2024. Does it make sense to invest in this sport, and if so, how? Perhaps it is worth thinking about naturalizing a few younger people, e.g. from the former USSR, since local wrestlers are in no way able to be competitive. Btw., the last medals for Italy were the participation of naturalized Cubans: Chamizo and Conyedo (the last native Italian to win an Olympic medal was Andrea Minguzzi in Beijing 2008: gold). In my opinion, without new naturalizations, there is no point in financing such a weak and uncompetitive team. Tomorrow I wish that Chamizo will win the quotas but this will not change the total decline of Italian wrestling in recent years.
  12. The only chance that Chamizo will advance to the Olympics tomorrow. https://www.oasport.it/2024/04/lotta-subito-fuori-tutte-le-azzurre-nel-torneo-europeo-di-qualificazione-olimpica/?refresh_ce
  13. TRT Spor with Turkis VPN.
  14. Italian women's wrestling at the bottom. If Chamizo doesn`t win the quota tomorrow, there is a serious threat that we will not qualify anyone for Paris And the examples of Germany and France show that you can fight even without the naturalization of people from the former USSR.
  15. The Italians aren`t as weak as they looked in the first two matches but today Slovakia had a bad day, which can happen to such a young team. However, their promotion is almost certain. If Italy wins against Slovenia for 3 points, they will take 3rd place and repeat of 2022 and 2023. Next year if South Korea or the Netherlands are relegated, we will have a real chance to fight for promotion higher. It would be best to organize the tournament in Italy next year. There is also a chance that Laura Fortino will be able to play for us (2024/2025 will be her second season in Bolzano in Italian League).
  16. Only Chamizo and Conyedo in freestyle can realistically qualify here. Already in Tokyo we had only 2 representatives in freestyle. I hope Chamizo can do well here because he has bracket within his reach. As for the future, it`s probably see the example of Serbia, Slovakia or Hungary and bringing in someone from Dagestan or Ossetia. Besides, Chamizo and Conyedo also come from Cuba, not Italy.
  17. Frank Chamizo seems to have a good draw? In theory, he should fight 1/2 with the representative of Azerbaijan. How do you see his chances? The most difficult rival from Slovakia (Rus) is in the second part of the bracket.
  18. I wonder what happened to Zanni today? He looked like a person who didn't even want to fight... Injury or some mental problems? For example, a competitor from Turkmenistan clearly broke his personal record and the fight was 100%. For our men has absolutely no emotions.
  19. But then probably a person from the same country is going? For example, a Venezuelan is injured, so someone else from this country jumps in?
  20. So at 99% only Massidda and Pizzolato remain. I have a little disappointment. I was counting on 4 places: 3 men + 1 girl. Well, they didn't deserve it. Today, it was enough for Zanni to pass 336 kg and he would be ahead of the Spaniard.
  21. If I good understand that universal places are intended for exotic countries? There is no chance that, for example, Zanni would get such a place in his category?
  22. All on Italian team is doing terrible this year. At the European Championships and now at the World Cup, no Italian athlete broke his personal record and this should be expected of them. Competitors from other countries fight here and break personal records. I can see their ambition but what does Zanni do? He fails any test, he doesn't even start a fight. Unless he is injured but then he should not start and this should be communicated.
  23. There will be no relocation for Zanni, because in his category only China will give way. Unless there was a doping incident involving someone else. For now, the Spanish men will go to the Olympic Games as 11th, having the same result as Zanni and achieved in the same competition. Zanni was a bit unlucky, but later he did nothing to improve this result by at least 1 kg. Today his performance was scandalous - was it another injury? Either way, neither of them has a 0% chance of winning a medal in Paris.
  24. Objectively, neither Zanni nor any of the girls would have any chance of winning a medal. The top 8 would be the dream. Statistically, it would be better to take 4 people to Paris instead of 2. In reality, only Massidda has a chance of winning a medal but the terrible form of the all Italian team this year is also worrying before Paris. In the case of Zanni, he has been constantly injured lately and did not start or had 0 results.
