It's more so to do with keeping sports down to a max of 36. I think this was a stated goal sometime post Santiago 2023.

Final sports program: https://www.panamsports.org/en/news-sport/panam-sports-defines-36-sports-for-lima-2027/ In: Cricket Out: Bowling, Racquetball, Breaking ( @Joshfavourite sport dropped ) As I understand it, the other LA2028 sports (football, lacrosse) did not have enough federations to qualify to be a sport (min 20). So all the main program Olympic sports will be held.

Cedric Fofana & Victor Povzner won gold at the Diving Cup in Gatineau in the 3m syncho, with a score of 395.25. That would have placed them fifth in Paris. We may have found our solution in this event after Despatie's retirement.

Dawson just missed the A standard, but under the B standard so might still make the team

Also of note third place Lepage tied the A standard as well, so if one of the first two decide not to do the race in Singapore, Lepage would make the team.
