Out of curiousity amongst all this: is there anyone with any sort of position in the world of sports you like? :p

Obviously Pays Bas doesn't follow ski jumping much. It's different in Poland. Walter Hofer and his sidekick Miran Tepes were riding on the fans' nerves for years due to their dubious decisions of allowing jumpers to compete in strange weather conditions. Tepes stepped from his post two years ago and Hofer was long overdue to get the hell out as well. Sandro Pertile will be the new FIS ski jumping director from next season.

Ski jumping boss Walter Hofer: "We have to inform you that the World Cup season 19/20 is over."

Not entirely clear if he means the men only (of which he is the race director) or the women as well. Kind of sad for Hofer, that means this is his goodbye after decades as the guy :(

Everyone was tired of Walter Hofer many moons ago. Good riddance.

16 new cases already today in Poland, definitely the biggest jump so far. The total is 47, no deaths so far but that'probably just a matter of time so far. I have a really bad feeling we're going to end up as Italy 2.0 :(

Our government claims they're doing everything they can, and locking the borders but I can tell you right now it's a total lie. I have personally crossed our border with Czechia 4 times yesterday and not once have I been stopped at the border. Also, more and more doctors claim they're running out of tests and supplies, so I guess the "best" is still to come.

The health minister said he expects the number to rise to 1,000 within the next 7 days already...

The World Games would actually be unaffected by the move thinking about it now. None of the athletes, save a few climbers and the softball teams, would be at the Olympics. I think it’s unfair to force other events to move in order to host the Olympics. If the Olympics have to be moved, their credibility/prestige will already be hurt. Plus, it would further discourage nations from hosting the Olympics, and other events that are somewhat required for the Olympics.

Olympic Games is the biggest shark in the pool. Everyone else has to move for that.

1972 hostage crisis didn't hurt the Olympics credibility, several boycotts didn't hurt it either and you think a coronavirus delay hurts it? No frickin' way! Since even USA wants to host the Olympics again (hello 2028) then it's all fine and dandy with its credibility IMO :bye:

Well you have the World Games, World Aquatics Championships, World Athletics Championships, and other large events in 2021 as well. There’s more room in 2022, and I’d be cool to have the Olympics in the same year again.

All these events would be booted out for the Olympics, World Games in USA in a different month than July? That's a DOA since July is the only month where only baseball remains a viable competition. WG would be totally irrelevant during NBA playoffs or the football season.

Sure, but she was simply the best overall skier this season. People are surely going to disagree with that, but I don't much care and think she's the deserved champion anyway.

It's bullshit and you know it. It's the same as Frida Hansdotter winning the 2016 slalom globe despite the fact she lost to Shiffrin in every single slalom they competed together that season   Circumstances favored Brignone and she did enough to hold off Vlhova who in turn couldn't even overhaul Shiffrin's overall points despite Shiffrin missing a whole month. Hell, Shiffrin still had more wins and podiums than Brignone this season :p

so that two stupid crashes in Levi and in the last alpine combined slalom costed Vlhová the crystal globe lol...pretty ironic..

anyway 2 small globes in one season is the new :SVK NR in alpine skiing, so congrats for that

I didn't realize the parallel crap gets its own globe until I read your post

This season has been a total shitshow, probably the worst I can ever remember since I started alpine skiing almost 30 years ago.

Obviously the Bansko 'downhill' takes the cake for the worst single race of them all.

Can’t wait to read everyone’s “end of the year” posts at this point :p

At this 2021 is looking like a jam-packed year. Personally, I’d prefer moving the Summer Olympics to 2022 (if we have to). We can get some of the old “happens every four years” nostalgia back, and there’s way less international sporting events that year. Athletes would also have a shorter season geared specifically for the Olympics. If this were to happen, I’d almost be in favor of full reset of Olympic qualifications.

Right, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Volleyball World Champs would be screwed by this. No way they postpone SOG by two full years. They're lucky enough the Qatar World Cup will be held in December already. This means football (soccer) season will start early and would overlap with the SOG if they are moved to 2022.
