Where can I see the current Olympic rankings? There's no link on Wikipedia. In my opinion, after the last World Cup, Italy should have had 3 people in the men's single, not the USA – the 3 athlete from the USA wasn't even in the top 20 recently, while here Gufler-Ita,  was 12th.

Here is World Cup Standings, but I don't know if that's what you want: https://www.fil-luge.org/en/overall-scores?event_season_id=33.

I also don't know how they determined who got to compete, but perhaps Host Country extra quota?

I also wonder if China will accept its quota in the women's doubles? If so, Germany will only have one doubles, which will increase Italy's medal chances. I'm asking about China because their women's doubles is very weak and frequently suffers DNFs, and I suspect they'll send them to the Olympics. On the other hand, without it, they won't be able to compete on the team. Is anyone here from China here and know that`s country's policy in such cases? It means someone is qualified but very weak and has no chance of winning a medal.

One of their riders is from Xinjiang, so absolutely they will take them.

For me there's a World Cup in Winterberg- it doesn't count toward Olympic qualification, and there's no test event in Cortina- it does. The World Cup ranking isn't the same as the Olympic ranking and the latter isn't listed anywhere. Unfortunately, the Luge federation is performing poorly, unlike the FIS, which has up-to-date standings.

They don't have a quota in men's singles either, but I guess they'll be able to added this Q? There are actually only 8 teams with Q in team relay from possibily 11. But I'm just surprised China isn't competing in team events this season... I think that apart from Germany, everyone is interested in China participating in women's doubles :)

It seems there is no separate Olympic ranking, only World Cup ranking...at least, it's World Cup ranking that FIL will use to determine quotas.  Per FIL: "Qualification for the Olympic luge competitions at Milano Cortina 2026 is based on the World Cup ranking list of the Olympic season."

The Cortina race will definitely be included in this ranking, as this information was recently announced. That's why everyone competed there, but not in Winterberg.

Yes, I later saw in the official qualifying docs that info.  Guess we'll keep looking!

Ukrainian resources reported in the morning that 3 russian lugers lost their AIN statuses.

All 3 of them did not start today at the training session before the 3rd stage of the World Cup.

https://www.fil-luge.org/cdn/uploads/wc-luge-training-group-b-12-16-2025.pdf

19 AIN GORBATSEVICH, Aleksandr DNS DNS DNS

22 AIN MAZUR, Sofiia DNS DNS DNS

24 AIN SHAMOVA, Kseniia DNS DNS DNS

Other 3 russian lugers took part in the session.

I do not think we will have some official communication from the FIL.

I think they are to busy calculation qualification points manually.

For now situations that probably, in 1-2 years there will be nothing left of it except videos on YouTube.    Eureka Watson If there's a demand for this product, why not reactivate it?

    • yes, it was a great success   everything that should work, worked very well   there was a little inconvenient on Friday and it was fixed in less than 5 mins, then the ice sustained 3 games a day yesterday and today without any other issue   and moreover, the stands (those open to the public) were full despite the low level of play and the teams not exactly coming from the Milan area   actually, it was even full of nostalgic fans from the great hockey times of the town, the early Nineties, showing how much the city has Hockey in the deep of their hearts and how much a great team is missed here   that was at stake, not the fact that the arena has been projected and built for other goals, AKA music concerts and "global events" and not certainly to host any sport in the future   therefore, yes, it was a success, despite all the fuckin' arrogant, pretentious idiots from the North American (and Italian) social media
