36 countries and 1003 athletes have been entered according to the LOC/ICSD.

:USA won't participate unfortunately. More info on that decision: http://usdeafsports.org/news/usadsf-letter-on-the-20th-winter-deaflympics

Koeck :AUT won the first gold medal of the Games in women's Super G (in rather dominant fashion too).

The men's Super G was very close with only 0.08 seconds separting the top three. :FRA took gold and bronze, while :POL claimed the silver medal.

No livestreaming of skiing events it seems :(

It's a bit difficult to get all-time stats on the Winter Deaflympics, but I believe Anastasija Parhomenko :LAT won her nation's first ever gold medal at the winter deaflympics

The women's blitz (chess) podium has more history as well (so far as I can tell), with Viktoria Cseke :HUN winning her nation's first ever medal at the winter deaflympics @Vektor

Again, assuming the infomation I can find is correct, :SRB also won their first medal (bronze) as an independent entity (ie. not Yugoslavia) in the men's blitz event @NikolaB

Full results for both events can be found here: https://cdn.winterdeaflympics2023.com/results/chess/chess_blitz.pdf

:UKR took both cross country skiing gold medals, including a podium sweep on the men's side (a dominant one too), so they should lead the medal table after Day 1.
