Avtomobilist Ekaterinenburg (5E) b. SKA St. Petersburg (2W)  4-1 (3-2; 3-1; 2-1 OT; 2-5; 5-4)

Semifinals Pairings (Best-of-7 Series)

Traktor Chelyabinsk (6E) vs Lokomotiv Yaroslavl (3W)

Metallurg Magnitogorsk (1E) vs Avtomobilist Ekaterinenburg (5E)

Unusual result. Many favorites lose.

From top-4 only Metallurg previously won KHL tournament (last time 2016). Lokomotiv and Traktor played in the final only. But Lokomotiv won Russian championship (last time 2003). For Avtomobilist it's the best result ever.

Bolzano's earlier elimination may paradoxically help the Italian team in the World Championships in Bolzano at the turn of April and May. While I don't believe in winning against Slovenia but we can fight against Hungary. There must be the best possible squad and the highest form.

nobody can help :ITA in ice hockey...not even "that One" leaving high in the Sky

:ITA and Hockey just can't stay in the same sentence :hairpull:

In 2006 thanks to the Games in Turin, Italy managed to raise its level and advance to the World Division for a few years. And at that time it was more difficult, because Russia and Belarus also played. However, in my opinion the Keenan idea was bad. If you choose someone from Canada, choose a younger one who will be motivated to develop and promote yourself.

that was a wasted chance...

IIHF at that time was available to change the rules and allow :ITA to play with a full NHL team, but our federation did reject the option and still played with a weak and old team, the last stint of the last semi-decent generation of Italo-North American players

after that, the big black hole just swallowed us

now, as I wrote, :ITA and Hockey just can't stay in the same sentence
