Just seen that so far Jordan and Macao have won their first ever Universiade medals here!!
Rowing world championships quota updated here:
Only changes are that Greece was reallocated the men's single scull quota, instead of Latvia and Romania chose women's pair, so Canada was reallocated the women's single scull quota.
Tripartite invitations have been announced as well:
Mens Single Sculls
Nicaragua
St Vincent and the Grenadines
Womens Single Sculls
Lebanon
Uganda
Expandand finally the entries of Athletics are ready
here
but look at this horror this guy has the PB/SB 3:15:00 in 1500 m
here
Found one even better, in Heat 5 of the women's 400m heats Muzak Al Malki of Oman has a PB of 57:23:11! I'm hoping there's an error there or the timekeeping that of that athletics may be thrown out!
ExpandChina is boycotting the event?
They're not sending any teams and the individual athletes are very low quality.
History must have been made earlier when the Chinese weightlifter was in the B group!! That tells you all you need to know about how seriously the Chinese are taking this event!
First gold medal goes to... Mexico!
Diving - Women's 1m Springboard
Gold - Dolores Hernandez
Silver - Choe Un Gyong
Bronze - Louisa Stawczynski
North Korea's weightlifting team here is insane! They can easily win all the women's events plus 3 of the men's and break a tonne of universiade records along the way. Their 19 year old competitor in the women's -48 has an opening weight equal to the Olympic gold medal at Rio

I think each country is only allowed to qualify 1 boat per gender,
So that changes the quota a little bit:
Men's Single Sculls:
Men's Pair:
Women's Single Sculls:
Women's Pair:
Edited by uk12points
African shooting championships quota:
Pistol women - Tunisia
pistol men - Egypt
Rifle women - Egypt
Rifle men - South Africa
All the winners got the MQS in qualification so no worries there!
ExpandHave only 75 emoticons for post is a big problem for the format that i decided to use, i must change it. Anyone have any idea?
I had the same issue on the World Games thread. I asked Sindo about it and he said he could try and increase it but it hasn't worked so far!

By the way, if anyone is up very late in the night/early morning there is an excellent looking live stream service here:
ExpandOnly 4 (maybe 5, North Korea's pairs is ranked third) countries should win medals at the AWG.
I'd mostly agree, China, South Korea, Japan and Kazakhstan are all sending most of their top athletes ans will sweep the medals. An outside chance perhaps for Uzbekistan in the Men's Figure Skating and even though the medals don't count Australia may get a podium position!
And Gold for Lithuania in Short Track!
@Werloc Does that make up for yesterdays penalty?!
Fantastic Bronze medal to Team GB in the Women's Snowboard Cross!!!! Well done Ellie Soutter!
We haven't won a medal on snow at the EYOF since Chemmy Alcott in 1999!
Olympic Channel TV coverage
12th - Opening Ceremony
13th - Ice Hockey
14th - Ski Jump
15th - Figure Skating
16th - Alpine Skiing
17th - Short Track Speed Skating
Edited by uk12pointsThe curling teams are:
Mens - Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Slovenia and Turkey
Womens - Italy, Norway, Poland, Russia and Turkey
Looks like there will be at least 26 nations with medals as Norway won bronze in Curling and GB and Canada will win at least a silver tomorrow in the curling finals! That's up 2 on last time, but not as high as the 32 in 2013!!
The winter Universiade medal table really confuses me! Every year Russia races ahead in the medals table on the first few days, but then only seems able to add one or two gold medals every day after that
Russia must have some amazing preparations because they're dominance would disappear if the medal count stated from day 3!
Just fulfilled a life long ambition to see a "British" long track speed skater competing in an actual competition!!

Birmingham has been chosen over Liverpool to be England's candidate for hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Birmingham now needs to prove to the treasury that bringing the games to the West Midlands will be value for money as 75% of the costs will come from the taxpayer.
