I am not that optimistic...In any case, I would be much more optimistic if Jolyn Beer and Larissa Wegner hadn't lost their great starting position with 192 each in the standing position and missed the final in 9th and 10th place.

On the other hand, from a German perspective, the outcome is almost trivial, as Jolyn Beer will almost certainly get the ticket via the Olympic Ranking if she or any German shooter doesn't get a quota place today or at the European Championships.

50m Rifle - 3 Positions

There are 5 shooters in the final who already earned the quota. So 2 quota places will be decided between :NOR Ole Martin Halvorsen, :GBR Michael Bargeron and :SUI Jan Lochbihler

Really a bad joke that already qualified shooters take part in this qualification tournament. :image:

Looks like Germany might have a chance for a quota place in women's trap. Very surpising.

Why is skeet mixed team olympic but not trap mixed team? Don't really get the reason for having individual and mixed shooting events at the olympics, seems like an overkill.

Expand

Btw, if Kathrin Murche really wins the quota, Germany will have 8 quotas already.

Beside France as the host with a lot of guaranteed quotas, only China and USA would have more quotas as of today.

They switch the events every time. In Tokyo it was Trap mixed and now it is Skeet mixed.

Shooting ISSF World Championships 2023
Posted (edited)

What happened to Jessica Rossi in Trap??? :surprise::surprise::surprise:
After 75 targets she was perfect 75/75 in place 1 (place 2 already with 73/75).

And today she started with 19/25 and is currently out of the final (and even with another 25/25 it will need a lot of mistakes by the other to reach the final).

No idea. There are no more eligible athletes in women's trap (between unqualified nations), so we are in a scenario which was not foreseen in the qualification system (lol).

If they reallocate it to the next two highest ranked athletes (from any nation) - :FIN:TUR

If they reallocate it to the next two highest ranked athletes (not already qualified in W trap specifically) - :TUR:CYP

If they reallocate it to the next two highest MQS athletes (from any nation) - :GER:GER

If they reallocate it to the next two highest MQS athletes (not already qualified in W trap specifically) - :GER:KUW

Still no update on these quotas? :dunno:

I forgot about the Mixed teams, you're right. Actually, no clue what will happen. Theoretically, SVK could enter two athletes in M Trap and a different athlete for the Mixed team. Thus, I think SVK are allowed to win three quota places in M Trap and may exchange it for another event.

From a German perspective I would prefer an Italian quota today anyway

In men`s Trap fight for quota is between :ITA (2x), :GRE and :SVK

Interesting situation for Italy: Mauro de Filippis is Number 1 in the World Ranking, so if :GRE or :SVK gets the quota, he will get the quota via world ranking. If the second Italian Valerio Grazini wins the quota he is out.

For :GER this is interesting as well, as Andreas Löw is the second eligible athlet in the world ranking, so if one of the Italian wins the quota in this tournament, he will win the quota via world ranking

poor germany, she lost so many quota possibilities ... jolyn beer is my favorite i'm very sad for our best german friends ..

Thanks. This tournament is very unfortunate for the German athletes. I`m fine if they are really bad and end up in places >30...but 4 times that they missed the quota by one place in the final is heartbreaking. I assume that Jolyn Beer will participate in Tokyo anyway, as Isabella Straub who won a quota in 2019 lost the internal qualification so I assume Jolyn Beer will take the ticket.

German shooting is cursed, no other logical explanation. Even if every single German shooter in Tokyo would win a medal, it wouldn’t make up for the bad luck Germany had during the qualifying period.

I fear the table has it wrong. :( It think that the German lost the quota with the last shot. If she didn`t miss would have been in fourth place (winning the quota via olympic ranking).

I hope that Germany will win at least one quote today. With possibly 3 athletes in the final the odds aren’t too bad, although the competition is very strong.

If the live data is correct, Sven Korte :GER missed his last 4 shots :facepalm:still hope that this is a technical issue (he wa 119/121 before)

Edit: It was only two of his last 4 shots but this made him drop from a secured place in the final to below shoot off...

    • Well now's time for a little summary of my experience attending Stop 1.   Overall it was a nice experience, my first time visiting that venue in particular. It brought me some memories from my time at 2011 PanAm Games, seeing athletes from many countries. Now the venue is kind of dated, and it really needs some serious maintenance. For me it was unacceptable that the restrooms for the general public were in poor conditions, and also some sections need a fresh layer of paint, not to mention the heavy layer of dust in the ceiling. Thank God no debris fall in to the pool or on the spectators, but you may see a couple of pigeons continually flying around the swimming complex, even disrupting Mark Hrytsenko's last dive in 10m platform, before being sent away by Ruslan Ternovoi.   there was a pretty large number of Chinese fans on Saturday that came to support their team with flags & banners; however, their overall conduct was very poor, most of them crossing into the "top section" denying people who paid those tickets their rightful seats, ignoring and even shoving the few security elements at the venue and disrupting the general silence by replaying videos with loud sound or standing to take pictures while the divers were competing. Not that the Mexican fans were better; at times they were very disrespectful, particularly with divers preceding local competitors, since the cheered very loudly, ignoring the results (whether bad or good) of the former.   Among my personal highlights was the fact I had the opportunity to meet the Cuevas twins, who won a silver in 3m synchro and with only 14 are considered our next big stars in this sport, and also two time Olympic medalist in 10m synchro Alejandra Orozco, who was very active during the event, often oversawing and helping in any way needed, not to mention very kind and attentive to anyone asking for a photo. Also in attendance was Olympic figure skater Donovan Carrillo, whom I also asked for a photo.   I had an opportunity to see Maddison Keeney at the small cafeteria after winning a bronze in 3m synchro; she was very polite and gracious, accepting to take photos even when she needed to take a break and finish her sandwich; that same day I ran into Moritz Wesemann on my way back to my seat after getting a beer, and on the last day I almost bumped into Jack Laugher (he was going "incognito" mode while trying to decide what to grab from the food carts outside the main building).   So in general, I had a pleasant experience and would love to attend another event in the future. To top it off, there was a brief take of me during Sunday's men's 3m finals on WA stories, which of course I've already downloaded for keeps. I hope to find some time to upload some of the pictures I took; not the ones with me & above mentioned athletes since I'm not to photogenic, but of the few photos of the competition and the practice time that I find are worthy.
