The whole thing just screams of Herdman. Not just doing it, but formalizing and systematizing it. And he was the architect of the women's program for close to a decade then spent several years doing the same on with the men. Priestman is one of his alcolytes, as are most of the senior people with both national teams and technical staff.
And they all knew it was wrong and kept on doing it even after he left.
The low level people might be able to get away with saying their boss made them do it, but there are layers of senior people who knew, knew it was wrong, and kept on doing it, and they all need to go

I think it's desperation, Brazil is under a lot of pressure with the recent results, and against Argentina maybe he wanted to show something to the fans. But I agree that it was quite exaggerated. Now I'll have to endure another week of "if Neymar was there it would be different"... -

Iran and Argentina are qualified for the FIFA WC 2026 Iran draw 2-2 with Uzbekistan thanks a Taremi double. AFC round 8 closed with two surprise Kyrgyz Republic won 3-1 over Qatar, and Palestine claimed their first win in this round (2-1 Iraq). Two round to play and only Korea DPR is eliminated; instead Qatar, Kyrgyz Republic, Palestine, Kuwait, Bahrain and China cannot qualify directly; but can still advance to the fourth round. Be interesting to see if this goes to CAS and/or faces legal issues and chaotic protests in support and against in certain countries. There is already talk of rival demonstrations in favour and against at London Diamond League this summer. -
