Looking ok in gymnastics... halfway thru the last subdivision we're sitting 8th... 0.8 up on Italy and 1.0 up on Turkey. We need to beat them both to make the final

And a big vault rotation from Turkey, and we're now on the outside looking in

Chalmers always swims out of his mind on relays. That's just something you got to take into account for every time.

Something about relays just do it for certain people. Seen a lot of 4x400 on the track where a guy that can barely crack 47 seconds individually, but give him a baton and he runs 44's

Knox is our weakest, and third is the perfect spot for him. Acevedo has the potential to be under 48

This is how our biathlon relays typically do it. Strongest two up front, weakest at three, next weakest at four. Hope they can hang around the first two legs and it lights a fire under those in the back half

Women's soccer team deducted 6 points, all but confirms they are out of the tournament

If that puts it to bed, I'll take it. FIFA had to hit them hard. Can't do that crap at the Olympic games. They get to finish out their pool games, and maybe we should appreciate that

Normally not, but with an athlete with as big of a schedule with her it all adds up.

McIntosh isn’t even that big of an upgrade on MSH.

Yeah, that's actually the question mark in my mind is whether she has the sprint speed

I guess we'll find out

Looks like CBC is streaming multiple courts, at least on badminton and tennis. Not all of them, but a couple... I'm guessing the ones Canadians will be on

Anyone else having issues with the replays on the Gem app? On FireTV it won't let you rewind or fast forward, you can only watch the entire thing straight thru.

No such problem with their websites, just on the app

Will be interesting where this ends. Indications are the FIFA is massively pissed. IOC is obviously pissed... and Priestman and/or the CSA burned their one ally in COC yesterday. David Shoemaker publicly went to bat for her yesterday, after presumably getting assurances, and a day later turns out those assurances were lies and made him look like a fool.

I mean there aren't many ways to say "if the opposing team is in this position during a free kick, this is about to happen" without the next question being "how did you know that?"

I'm not sure how often that line of thinking would happen... but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the drone footage in team film sessions

Probably, but given that it’s been happening for a while I’m starting to think it’s not the coaching teams fault (or Bev’s) and they’re just doing what Canada Soccer tells them to do. Can’t be that much of a coincidence that keep hiring the same type of people…

The whole thing just screams of Herdman. Not just doing it, but formalizing and systematizing it. And he was the architect of the women's program for close to a decade then spent several years doing the same on with the men. Priestman is one of his alcolytes, as are most of the senior people with both national teams and technical staff.

And they all knew it was wrong and kept on doing it even after he left.

The low level people might be able to get away with saying their boss made them do it, but there are layers of senior people who knew, knew it was wrong, and kept on doing it, and they all need to go
