Tournament Format

 

Finally arrived also the time for this Tournament, which had to be twice cancelled/postponed due Covid-19 pandemic.

8 Nations will play this Tournament, sadly New Zealand and Bulgaria announced their withdrawal, however we will have also two new debuting nations in the IIHF U20 World Championship program, and . 

The teams will be divided into 2 Classic Preliminary Round Groups A & B, with all Nations advancing to the Quarterfinals. The winner of Group A will face the 4th Nation of Group B, The winner of Group B will met the 4th Nation of Group A, and 2nd ranked nation of Group A the 3rd ranked nation of Group B and 2nd Nation from Group B will play against the 3rd Ranked Nation from Group A.

The Quarterfinals winners will advance to the Semifinals, the Quarterfinals Losing nations will based on their ranking and points in the Preliminary Round play in the 7th, respectively 5th Place match.

The Semifinals losing teams will play in the Bronze Medal Games, while the Semifinal winners will advance to the Gold Medal Match, and the winner of that game will earn promotion to the next year Men´s Under 20 Division II Group B World Championship 2023, while all remaining nations will stay in this division also for the next year 2023.
