  1. Oooh Lauren James, how insanely dumb can you be? You absolute idiot Rightful red card, go be very ashamed of yourself.
  2. A 90 men Olympic road race is truly ridiculous. A 90 women Olympic road race is somewhat unnecessary as well, but slightly less ridiculous (although the other way around), for now 60 would have been....alright. Not great, but alright. But a men's championships road race with under 120 riders or so is just nonsense. Oh well, in men's road cycling world titles are often remembered more than Olympic titles anyway (especially in the road race)
  3. Possibly, but most of their attempts just seemed totally....off. Like they just didn't care at all. USA's penalties were taken the way a teenager cleans his room when his mom tells him to finally do so: put a single t-shirt from the floor in the closet with a bored face and say "I cleaned my room, done"
  4. South Africa is a truly fun team. Not one of the 'lesser' teams who just go lay in front of the goal and hope they keep the goals against to a minimum, but just going for it and attacking whenever they can, that makes teams fun to watch
  5. Just managed to catch up now, but did the American women ever train a single penalty kick? Holy moly that were some pathetic attempts, zero power or commitment or anything behind it
  6. Oh come on, now only 4 riders is going to be the maximum per team? I know it's not surprising that they're actively trying to make the Olympics worse in most sports, but come on Luckily it's not a flat course, then the Netherlands would have 4-5 legitimate medal contenders nowadays.
  7. Percentage wise in terms of actual pros at the start, that was probably a lot better though, considering the presence of nearly 100 riders who I doubt have ever ridden an actual pro race
  8. Andrey Amador really fell behind badly recently, for vs to even be a thing...
  9. Yeah, this race was absolutely brutal. It's the Brits though: Harrogate 2019 had only 46 finishers (with Van der Poel being a main candidate as well, but suddenly being absolutely roasted after a mistake in his feeding pattern)
  10. Huh, who knew Olympic quotas are a thing in the world championships road race, I'll be damned
  11. Finally, finally, finally, first time in my life What a truly insane ride, absolutely massive
  12. Massive attack by Van der Poel and the rest seems...lackluster all of a sudden. This could be THE move.
  13. Bettiol is totally cooked. Oh well, it was a nice try and, realistically, his best chance to do it this way.
  14. Would be zero surprise if Bettiol finishes this off and nobody really tries to catch him.
  15. To be fair, it basically was one long attack. Which is his main chance, whereas Van Aert or Van der Poel will be more likely to need a short punchy attack
  16. Trenton looked so strong, but a costly mistake and he's down on Montrose...Trentout.
  17. Nice from the TV director to make sure he was at least visible for a second in his last road race
  18. Nah it's ok, there are almost no corners in the lap
  19. TV director still needs some practice, all the time showing just the first 5 or so in any given group
  20. Belgian's main commentator: "Oh, it's not Mattias Skjelmose in the front, it's Mattias Jensen." His name is Mattias Skjelmose Jensen..... Although granted, that Danish name thing is always somewhat confusing with a difference in how riders are generally named (in international media) and how they are listed in graphics
  21. Mikkel Bjerg with a mechnical problem, awful 'help' from the neutral mechanics and not able to get back in the current high pace. Abandon.
  22. 145k to go and Sam Bennett has dropped out of the peloton, to the surprise of nobody....I mean, he is a sprinter (one with a decent punchy climb on a good day, but not 10 laps with a bunch of those every lap )
  23. About time The long way to get there was utterly stunning for the views, very much enjoyed it, but as per usual not much happened other than the tense moment for half the Dutch team right after the restart.
