NED is basically out...Germany is almost safe...it's going to be SUI vs ITA in the end...and SUI have quite an advantage before the last 2 rotations (1.5 points)... how much are we gonna regret that Mozzato's fall at the PH? immensely, I fear...

actually race walking was always held in short circuits (max 3k) plus a short stint to exit/enter the stadium because they still had a restrict number of judges (the difference was that until a few years ago, the judges were taken fron the NF of the organizing Nation, so they could afford in certain cases to have a bigger number of them -but that always led to many inepts covering that role and making disasters in terms of allowing athletes to infinge all the rules or disqualifying people who were walking perfectly only because of political pressure, even more than nowadays...meanwhile right now there is a panel of judges -still bised when not corrupted, but this is another issue- who are always the same covering the global events...this was done because iaaf wanted to have more uniformity in judging, but we're still well far away from having a fair and objective situation)... the chip question, is far from being approved...there is a lot of controversy and many coaches / athletes are against it, because it would certify that nobody is walking regularly...suspension is almost physiological at the speed they walk nowadays...and it doesn't solve the real problem, the interpretation of the knees being blocked or not, which is what makes today's race walking a farce, as they allow always the same athletes from the same Nations to run instead of walk...

after the end of the Athletics Worlds, now I'm focused only on the Baseball playoffs, in both the MLB and the NPB (and maybe I give a shot to the KBO also)... the only other events I'm going to follow in the next 3/4 weeks are a few big matches in European Soccer and of course some Hockey from all around the World (I just can't live without it )...

just 3 weeks to go... so, it's time to open the new thread dedicated to the main circuit of this sport... to be remembered: the Fencing World Cup is made of 2 different kinds of competitions, the regular World Cup events (which always host the Individual and the Team event of a given weapon in the same weekend and in the same location) and the Grand Prix events (which always host only the Individual events in both genders of a given weapon in the same weekend and in the same location and give more points for the World Ranking away for the various final placings than the regular World Cup events)...

Fencing FIE World Cup 2019 - 2020 Multi-Stage Event - 1 November 2019 - 8 March 2020 Official Website

my quick summary... - depressing athmosphere in the stadium (except for the last 2 days) and outside the stadium (always)... - running the long distance competitions at midnight and still having to cope with crazy uncomfortable conditions and putting at risk the athletes' health...IAAF are only a bunch of criminals... - usual shameful judging in race walking...this events are more and more a farce...so, or they are going to immediately find the right way and change everything or it's better to get rid of it completely...right now, it's just a political distribution of medals... - quite a few boring competitions, dominated from start to finish by one athlete...that's not enjoyable at all as a neutral viewer (even if I understand a possible different POV by those emotionally involved in those events)... - the farce of the mixed relays... - the absolute farce of the NOP athletes, stronger than ever just when their "mastermind" is finally found guilty of any sort of disgraceful behaviour (with at least 15 years delay, but still)... + some absolutely wonderful competitions...doped or not, the protagonists of some of this championships' events have gifted us with some of the most entertaining and exciting races ever in their own disciplines... + the sport related infrastructure...we can say all the bad we want about the Gulf Nations, but man! the stadiums they've built are just wonderful and they've been able to make even these desertic lands fascinating...chapeau! for that... in conclusion, I'm a conservative, a traditionalist and a pure sport lover...so, I hope not to see anymore any sport event held in places like this, but I understand that "pecunia non olet" and therefore my wish is going to be disattended very soon and always more day after day... but still, nobody will change my memories and will make me change my mind...watching an Athletics World Championship in London or Paris or Berlin is just another thing, another experience (a lot more entertaining and exciting, of course)...

USA, JPN, CHN, UKR, SUI and GBR will surely top ITA and GER (unless they flop badly)... so GER have still 1 more "joker" within their cards and ITA are really on the edge... KOR are the most dangerous (for ITA, especially)...then NED and maybe CAN could make the Germans cry (but I don't think it will happen...today's top 5 will be in Tokyo...ITA...I really fear they won't)...

now he's 5th... by the way, did you watch his routine? I fear he's been heavily underscored (I didn't watch, I only read a report from an Italian website, but generally they are too enthusiastic about gymnasts, so I don't know if it might be true or not?)... however, I think that starting in the first subdivision is cruel...it's almost impossible to sneak in into the apparatus finals...you really need to be a super-champion above all suspects, in order to be generously evaluated so early in the competition...
