    I think you have overestimated China and the USA. For now, the USA is 9 gold medals behind their previous Games, which would place them closer to 30 than 36. This is a gap that will be hard to make up.

    Day 5 Update Right now, at the end of Day 5, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France: 5 gold medals (-6 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games) 9 gold medals (-3 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games) 8 gold medals (+5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games) This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games: China - 35 gold medals USA - 33 gold medals France - 15 gold medals

    Compared to the predictions made before the Games, is France ahead of these predictions or not? Is there even a remote possibility for France to finish first in the rankings?
