  1. However making quad jumps is what separates the Russians from the rest so that is the whole point. You don't win gold medals in figure skating on stamina but on technical content in the end. I'll still take Witt's words over yours no matter if she's not a doctor Obviously Valieva, Trusova & Shcherbakova won't be back for the next Olympics though. Russians will send a new wave of teenagers to Cortina. I read Robin Cousins' comments on BBC how they all have probably two more Olympics ahead of them. What a load of crap. This might be true for nations with zero depth where one skater has literally no competition to speak of (Poland!) but not Russia.
  2. Herrmann really took her time but still missed the last shot. Julia Simon up with Eckhoff, Olsbu & H. Oeberg after the first shoot.
  3. Katharina Witt said the drug didn't help or "teach" Valieva how to jump quads. I assume Witt knows more about figure skating than you do
  4. Brady Leman barely qualifies for SF off the final jump outdragging the second Canadian to the line.
  5. Everyone has to remember IOC promotes 12 year olds at Summer OG as the new future. And they would happily ditch old school sports like boxing or wrestling for "urban" events aimed at the teenage children audience. They literally told this when introducing skateboarding and break dancing. So raising the minimum age to 21 for all Olympic events is obviously impossible. And figure skating in Russia has so much depth there will be more coaches trying to win at all cost.
  6. Yeah, but if media doesn't even bother to report who won the damn event then they deserve to be called out every which way. I get that BBC doesn't know what a triple axel in women's competition means or nobody in the UK knows who Petra Vlhova is but their tunnel vision deserves the treatment. Such ignorance won't be tolerated. And now they will try to sell Valieva as the victim when they roasted her top to bottom in the last seven days. What a bunch of crap this is. They lost a great anti-Russian story and I love it. I suppose it's too late to dig up dirt on Shcherbakova & Trusova?
  7. Getting rid of Tutberidze solves nothing because sooner or later there will be another Tutberidze-like coach replacing her. Russia is one country that doesn't change it's ways and they won't buckle to outside pressure when it comes to figure skating of all things. You can totally forget about that. BBC still didn't bother to report who actually won the women's event in their headline. They didn't bother to put Vlhova's name in the header for the slalom too - only that Shiffrin failed to win. So much for the most prolific media of the Western Europe
  8. Trusova is not happy with that result. Apparently IOC had enough drama and didn't invite Valieva to the gala. Such a pity for the media!
  9. Yeah, Polish commentators also said he was going for a two-stone risk instead of trying to steal the extra end. I have no clue if that was norm for this team or not
  10. Epic failure from Couldn't even force extra ends with the hammer in the last. in the final 5-3.
  11. The beef was today. Team Event in figure skating is just window dressing. IOC and ISU came out really fine with Valieva finishing 4th in the ladies event. The controversy is how the positive test was revealed between TE and the medal ceremony. I don't think that was a coincidence. If that came out earlier Valieva would be replaced and Tuktamysheva probably drafted for the ladies event.
  12. They probably will. Shcherbakova & Trusova turn 18 this year, it won't be a problem given how valued figure skating is in Russia. Meanwhile the tiktok & social media generation in USA probably hits that programme hard, I don't see them Americans spending years on the ice rink to become a pro figure skater. Add the coaching sex scandals in gymnastics and some reports in figure skating and it might really turn south soon. No such issues will plague the Russian programme IMO. IOC openly talks about chasing the "next generation" of viewers. They allow 12 year olds to compete in skateboarding in the summer so having 15 year olds compete in the winter is suddenly the worst evil? Not really.
  13. Please, BBC roasted Valieva right over. I wonder what will they do now when there are no medals to be taken away in the ladies event? Such a good story all wasted. Russia will come with a new wave of skaters for Cortina and I don't think USA or Japan keeps up with the talent depth.
  14. American media & American skaters are probably happy. They left the arena before Valieva's skate according to Polish ES. BBC headline: 'Valieva misses out on podium'. They don't give a damn about gold medal or anyone else on that podium
  15. Peng Shuai? Who cares? Thomas Bach (fencing, gold 1976) had a dinner with her already. All good Anna Shcherbakova will get the Oksana Baiul treatment. Nobody will remember her name after a while
  16. I read the BBC ticker, in short programme they said Valieva fell on one of the jumps. It was the triple axel. These morons have no clue what a triple axel in ladies competition is. Good news is that got absolutely smoked out of the water so they don't profit from this whatsoever
  17. Yeah, Valieva down in 4th. still takes 1-2 and Western media can fuck off since the medal ceremony will take place?
  18. And that is probably gold for Shcherbakova already. Well, Western media will have a field day roasting Valieva anyway. But nobody will take away Shcherbakova's gold medal.
  19. Shcherbakova probably nicks it on presentation? She had only two quads compared to Trusova's five.
  20. Trusova quad combine & the second quad in the second half of the programme alone (five quads total). The hammer is down!
