Skeleton World Championships silver medalist Axel Jungk also tested positive a week ago. There is still hope for him though. Hannah Neise also tested positive after St Moritz, but she already has four consecutive negative tests and can travel.
ExpandAlso apparently from the skeleton stream this morning, the commentators were saying that both Neise and Loelling failed to fulfill German qualification standards so I'm not too sure what's going to happen there.
Neise fulfilled the internal standards. The German skeleton federation will also propose Loelling for selection.
ExpandGrotheer wins gold despite not starting in a single WC race this season.
Because the three other men had really strong results in the World Cup, so there was no reason to replace them. Funny thing is that Grotheer was only able to compete at the World Championships because Felix Keisinger won the Junior World Championships, earning a fourth place for Germany.

Amazing for Neise. Most people might say, just Germany again, but this is MAJOR surprise. Her only victories on senior level so far were 1 win in ICC and 1 win in EC. She struggled to fulfill the internal German standard (3 times TOP 8 in WC) and finally reached it at St. Moritz (8th rank) with her last possible chance. Then got Covid just 1 week before the Opening Ceremony.
Btw amazing result for AUS and NED, those two countries together at the podium looks more like swimming or something ;-)
