  3. Swimming (SC Worlds), Wintersports (especially Biathlon, Alpine Skiing and both versions of Speedskating), Hockey from all around the Globe and a lot of (American) Football (NFL, but also NCAA...the Bowl season has already started about 3 hours ago ).

  5. just a couple of numbers... Karlos Nasar's C&J effort at 220kg in the -89kg is the highest measure of the tournament so far, equalled only by Nurudinov in a weight class 20kg heavier (-109kg). Lesman Paredes' 185kg Snatch in the -96kg class would give him at least 8kg advantage over any other lifter also in the heaviest categories and his 397kg total is the same as Nurudinov and way better than any other lifter in all the other weight classes. Antonino Pizzolato's total of 392kg in the -89kg at the last European Champs would have given him an easy gold in his weight category (and also the -102kg gold) and it would also be the 3rd highest total of the entire World tournament so far (only behind Paredes and Nurudinov).

  7. really surprised that nobody already choose the Big Red Machine. I can forgive the youngsters that have never seen them play, but the more expert guys...c'mon! I know Russian are not so popular right now, but those guys wearing the red jacket were just on another level.
  8. well, Chalmers got really close... and I also got both Grousset and Miressi at about 45.5. only disappointing performance came from Popovici, but it was obvious since yesterday that he's not a short course specialist and, above all, he's not in top shape (and despite that, he was 4th, just a fraction behind silver and bronze). from my personal perspective, also Martinenghi's silver is quite disappointing, more because of the time than the final position (I expected him close to 55.5 at least). meanwhile the 4*50m free relay is disappointing from any POV...with Conte Bonin instead of Frigo to close down the job, it would have been an easy gold. bad mistake by our coaches (who always insist on those internal trials between some of the boys in the heats, instead of having a fix team already before the beginning of the day).

  10. Tatis would rather end up being the DH, I think. Boston's troubles are mainly on the mound (especially the bullpen). provided Story & Martinez can stay healty and adding the Japanese slugger, I don't think they will struggle that much on offense. not sure Jansen is the right man in the right place, though.
  11. just another monster-contract for a MLB player... the San Francisco Giants landed Carlos Correa with a brand new 13-year/350 million US $ deal and not mentioned before, the crazy spending NY Mets landed also the Japanes pitching star Kodai Senga. 5-year/75 million US $ for the player, with an opt-out clause for the team after 3 years (imho, this is a real steal...Senga should have been a much higher value). another Japanese star coming to play in North America is outfielder Masataka Yoshida, who got a 5-year/90 million US $ contract by the Boston Red Sox. Boston also signed veteran closer Kenley Jansen (2-year/32 million US $ deal for him).
  12. I don't think he has many chances to win gold...I guess Chalmers and Popovici will be close to the 45-sec dead mark, and also Grousset and Miressi can go below the 45.5 mark... in any case, it's gonna be an exciting final

  17. it doesn't need to be reviewed...in such cases, if there's a contat, it's always a penalty. the goalkeeper must avoid by any mean all kinds of contact, it's a specific rule (by the way, handball/basketball-alike blocks in football are not allowed, it's always defender's fault in those circumstances).
