    Norway are bound to have a mediocre to horrible Olympics (by their standards I mean) in Cortina-Milano next year. No Boes, no Riiber, no Johaug, no hope.

    He was furious indeed. Can't blame him. But then he calmed down, discussed the incident with Boe and also admitted in an official interview with the IBU that it was all his fault.

    I feel for you. I am also quite a staunch supporter of Italian sport (I always root for your athletes, especially in Summer Olympics). I think Georgia Colomb in alpine skiing and Auchentaler (I hope I typed it correctly) in biathlon have good potential though. They look very promising to me.

    I have a question for everyone: Will Russia participate in Milano-Cortina? What's your (very early) prediction about this? I guess it largely hinges on who the next IOC president will be, which we'll know next March I think.

    Haha. OK, I see. You are bound to do much better this time around although -as I recall- you won 5 golds back then, which is pretty good. In terms of total number of medals at least, you'll easily exceed the 11 you won in Torino 2006.

    How could Torino become a disaster for Italian sport? It was 18 years ago.

    Hope so (for my adopted country, Norway, that is). Torino 2006 was the first Winter Olympics I followed closely and it was nothing short of a disaster for Norway. Strangely enough, that was actually the reason I became an avid fan of Norwegian winter sports and have been ever since. As for my actual home country, Greece, a medal for Ginnis in slalom (alpine skiing) would be a miracle.

    Well, I am a notoriously diehard fan of Norwegian winter sports, so this explains it all I think. Can't hide my bias forever.

    My home country team, Greece, are doing nicely atm.

    The speed skating all around competition is older than the sea, not to mention immensely popular, so I am all for it being added as a distinct medal event to future Olympics.
