  1. U23/ World Championship Day 2 So looks like we haven't sent any lightweight rowing crews at all, which makes sense since its dead at Olympic level, also no single scull boats in U23 which like in the Olympics always saddens me, i know our best rowers make the big crews but would still like to see some representation as i enjoy the event Women's Pair 2nd > Final Men's Pair 4th > Rep Women's Quad 2nd > Final Women's Double Rep 4th > B Final (this is the first crew eliminated) Men's Quad Rep 1st > SF (these looked awful in the first round, miles better today) Men's Pair Rep 2nd > SF (two races in one day....ouch) Senior. Pretty sure this is our only competitor out there. Women's lightweight single sculls 3rd > Rep
  2. OR he has been planning this for a while, and was honest enough to race for australia at the olympics and win them a sack full of medals getting them a good return for their investment. If you think team Australia didn't know that he had applied to switch to GB pre olympics then you should wise up.
  3. GB doing bits in the transfer market, hope we make a trade for summer mcintosh next
  4. That is insanely good news! Move over Kennys we have a new power couple
  5. U23 Rowing World Championships Women Double Sculls 4th > Rep Men Double Sculls 3rd > SF Women's Four 1st > SF Men's Four 1st > SF Men's Quad 5th > Rep Men's Eight 2nd > Final Women's Eight > Final There wasn't any commentary on the stream, from what i saw the men's 8 would have won their race (which was a seeding race) if it was 2010m, they had a slow start and came right back through the field. The men's quad were disappointing, almost so that something may have happened to them off screen because they dropped like a stone. Still, only two boats having to go in the rep, a good day, these will likely be the crews that will develop for the next cycle so it's worth seeing how they go this week Edit: I had it on youtube, world rowing is the channel, if anyone wants to watch the rest this week
  6. Things i will add, Discovery also has bonjour paris in the morning, presented by Orla which was great for setting the day up. The few times i watched bbc the swapping channels was dreadful, mens triathlon for example swapping from red button to BBC1 on THE LAST LAP. I bearly watched BBC, the only occasions i did is when i KNEW they would be showing a live event (keely, triathlon) or because they had a commentary team i enjoyed. I would have watched a lot more athletics and swimming on BBC but there were occasions i knew there was an event on and we had to sit through an interview with adam peatys pet cat. The one thing i feel i missed out on with discovery is, as you said, a studio feel that gelled the show together, i do occasionally like skit's about the athletes village for example. The other bad thing with discovery was the distinct lack of charlton kirby covering the cycling
  7. How do people see rowing over the next cycle, with the olympic distance being cut to 1500m for L.A. Outside of world cup's etc is this distance competed at? I guess it can go either way for the squad, at what point in the cycle do they start focusing on 1500 and will that mean we might see drop off in world championship performance over the 2000 distance. I kinda have a lot of hope because GB allways seem among the first to adapt to changes in sports, but i also think it could create a more equal playing field (great for the sport, not great for GB golds) romania for example with their sprints would poasibley be even stronger? Am interested to know what others think
  8. This is all behind a pay wall isnt it? Im desperate to watch sport but not THAT desperate apprently
  9. Yeah i am lucky enough to have the school holidays off so think i am off for the first week of the para's, think im back at work second week....what channel has it this year?
  10. Mountain Bike is my main one, Put the short course event in! Same riders, same course, it's a no brainer. Agree about 4x400 Mixed, if its who has the best B team then just keep it at the world Championships. I don't like the 3 week idea, part of the appeal for me IS that there is too much going to watch everything at the same time, everyone's games experience is different. But i do agree that week 2 seemed slightly emptier than week 1 in Paris. I think the range of sports in Paris was almost perfect, i actually think there is TOO many sports in LA...but t20 cricket should be in, but with 8-12 teams. Gutted about the Modern Pentathlon changes, even before GB got good at it i enjoyed watching it, I'd rather not see it in the games than see it with a joke event slapped in the middle. I am also 50/50 on boxing, it can stay or go....not to fussed really. I get why football is in, but....again you could cut it and i wouldn't care, being a under23 tournament is just weird
  11. Been having a think about this, IF, boxing was to be dropped from the games COULD this lead to an increase in cricket teams? 2 each men's and women's? does anyone know if there is wiggle room in this scenario or is the 6 set in stone. The way T20 is anyone can beat anyone on the day and if they did a normal qualification tournament then it isn't lock that India would get in, but my feeling is the IOC will be absolutely desperate to have India involved for viewing figures alone. Maybe they might go for qualification via international rankings? T20 world cup will probably offer a place or two? Maybe they go "top finishing european nation, top finishing african nation" etc. I just don't want it to come down to a one off game against ireland or netherlands haha
  12. Olympics: British Olympic chiefs target men's football side at LA 2028 - BBC Sport A positive little post games noise, but i've heard this one before, we can but hope
  13. At least you have a shot at the Excel World Championships, top work!
  14. So I have ranked sports according to how I feel they performed in Paris, I think I got them all. 10. being overachieved or done everything we could have asked of them. 5. Done what was expected 1. Being total dogshit 10. Artistic Swimming, Equestrian, Sport Climbing, Mountain Biking 9. Diving, Rowing, Triathlon 8. Canoeing (slalom, not you sprint), Shooting. Weightlifting 7. Athletics, 6. Track Cycling, Golf, Gymnastics (inc Trampoline), Swimming 5. Skateboarding, Freetstyle BMX, 4. Sailing (saved by Aldridge) Hockey, Archery (They get a pass from me for actually qualifying a whole team). Taekwondo. Tennis. 3. Rugby Sevens, BMX Sprint 2. Badminton, Modern Pentathlon, Boxing 1. Judo, Table Tennis Think I got them all. . Sports I’m expecting 0 presence in LA: Water Polo, Basketball and 3x3, Wrestling, Handball, Volleyball, Fencing. Big hopes are we get our women’s football team back in, and GB rugby gets it’s act together and maybe get a beach volleyball team in Big Fear: 1500m Rowing lake is a game changer I don’t like the thought of. Far to sprinty. New Sports: Baseball/Softball: I remember pre TOKYO watching the softball qualifiers and we just missed out, and the Baseball classic last year where GB did well, i hope both squad can push qualification close, maybe get one in. Cricket: We should be qualifying two sports here, women certainly, men have a bit of competition continentally from those pesky dutch again. This is assuming the nations come together under a GB banner of course. Lacrosse: Honestly not a clue, but england seem to be ranked in top 6 in both men's and women's events....so tail is up. Flag Football: Love american football so really interested to see how this one goes, with doing no research aren't GB women european champions? It's going to be who is second best being USA, why not us! Squash: Should be well represented
  15. Went to get in my car for the first time in 17 days this morning, battery was dead *sigh*
  16. If that is the case they ran an event like this at The European Championships in Glasgow 2018 and it went down very good
  17. We all in favour of seb going for the big gig....right? London 2012 was a massive success and i think he has led athletics extremly well (repecharge rounds in the current format aside)
  18. Traditionally we are strong in events where russia are not, rowing sailing track cycling, i think other countries may benefit more from them not being here than us. They would certainly take golds off japan in wrestling (judo?). A couple from australia in swimming maybe, we'll never know but interesting to think about in a paraell universe
  19. Yes...tbc this month i believe, a slimmed down version, which lets be honest it got too big for what it was Am also a huge fan of the multisport european championships which i hope gets an exciting host in 26
  20. Yeah this is something im interested in, the keeleys, the finucane's and yee's who will be at their peak in 28
  21. 1. Pidcock, too many emotional mood swings in one race, rollercoaster 2. Toby Roberts 3. The womens, i wanna say quad, inching out the netherlands for gold Honourable mentions: Keeley and Bryony golds, KJT finally getting a medal, and yee
  22. Lets make the most of this everyone, it's all we've got for the next four years
