  1. Game win difference preceeds points iirc, so winning against both Poland and Italy would be enough (beating USA would be very unlikely to me) If Germany lose either I don't see them qualify. For Canada to Q Serbia should win all their matches and the other teams in 2-5 should trade five set games all over.
  2. China needs to have another throwaway game for that and even then. Group is wide open now at least.
  3. Sure, forgot about them. Although unlike for Serbia and China I still can see them not qualify directly, although that's partly because of how the group is playing out so far.
  4. Its also just a weird setup to have the teams in P15-20 needing to qualify top 2 with the top teams still around and then afterwards just look at ranking. There is basically zero pressure on the top teams anyway because they should Q via ranking if an upset happens. If the upsets for teams in ranking 13-20 do not happen we could just have skipped this tourney apart from the effects on rankings which feels kinda.. dull.
  5. Kinda scared a team like Germany will take that spot. Poland isn't great already, anything below that is just the worst. Really not fond of the Volleyball Q system and we seem to be at the short end of the stick a few times already. (Although the draw for the men is pretty nice) Just really hope it will get some air time here during the Olympics.
  6. That’s.. a lot. Rowing programme seriously paying off.
  7. Is Flag Football popular anywhere? I really know very little about this sport. At least cricket is seldom shown at the BBC.
  8. The biggest reason is obviously that it is hard to fit into the Olympic format. T20 does this better, but it always needs some time to establish. The main reason to include it is Indian appeal. Which is.. okay I guess. I mean, India is a pretty large market. But it is a team sport and these eat quota. And I don't know how one-sided it is in terms of medaling, which is one of the problems I have with baseball, aside from it boring me to death. I'd rather give cricket T20 a chance though. Although I rarely ever watched it. As long as it doesn't forego other (team) sports or reduces quota elsewhere.
  9. If base/softball is included, where will they get the 3-400 extra quota from? Or will they increase the cap?
  10. Really hope we can make the Olympics as Volleyball is my favourite team sport and some coverage of it is much-needed. Would help if we increase our ranking somewhat.
  11. I'm pretty sure underperformed a bit the first day though. Dunno why, but just have that feeling in my stomach.
  12. Schedule doesn't help here. But it surely should be possible.
  13. Women's LJ was a letdown especially given some athletes just couldn't give their best and the progression in HT by Katzberg is something different, but I don't know his backstory. Sometimes backstory explains large progression. On the 7 I completely disagree: Brooks would have taken bronze if it wasn't for tripling out of LJ, while Vetter has shown she can sustain a better level just one year ago, lack of training could be issue with her. There is also the question of injury, especially with KJT. And then we have Sulek and USA can qualify a better athlete than Hawkins, who can surely get to 6700 if they are on form.
  14. She did! But it was on the line, so that's okay.
  15. Only the semi after all. Waiting for Vetter to trip on the 800.
  16. Isn't Krizsan looking good for bronze if Vetter has one of those real bad 800 days? She has quite a good 800.
  17. Depends on what the injury is really. Her 200 wasn't too great either, so she is definitely at risk.
  18. If Hall can still go crazy on the 800, she should have this in the bag. Battle for bronze is also quite interesting, the weak ones on the javelin are higher up on the standings.
  19. Well, unlike Bol (and to an extent Hassan), Vetter has a history of struggling with form and mental issues, so I wouldn't say not getting a medal is 'humiliation' here, unlike what happened yesterday. It doesn't surprise me at all. Although going out with NM always sucks.
  20. I named it “Chinese Track World Champion” back here already.
