The majority of goals are scored by domestic players - but yes, we have been 4 players of Canadian origin from the last year.

Italy, reinforced by 4 naturalized Canadians, finally look like a team that will be able to advance higher, but of course we have to think match by match. Tomorrow we must to win against Kazakhstan. This group is very even and anyone can beat anyone, except maybe the weakest Slovenia.

I am not persuaded they are worse than Slovakia, but yep, definitely worse than Japan. All teams of the final tournaments are worse than Japan except Sweden whichi is +/- at the same level, followed by a small margin by Germany, Denmark, Hungary and France. Then we have a bigger gap ahead of Slovakia, China and some other more or less equal level teams like Norway and Austria. The Netherlands are an anomaly here, they are benefiting here from the rather fortunate circumstances that occurred two years ago resulting in their fluke maintaining in the division, but their real level is I am afraid a bit inferior than what their seeding tend to suggest

China won here against Poland on penalties... Poland recently lost very badly to Slovakia and Latvia at the World Champ. and is definitely the weakest team present here.

too easy qualification for the surprise of no one :p

China got rid of all the naturalized players from Canada and the US, so this is no surprise. With them on board, they were on equal lovel with Japan. Without foreign recruitment the Chinese team is worse than Slovakia or Holland.

When I was in Slovakia in 2003 at the hot water swimmingpool, there was a photo of the gold team from the 2002 World: in the shop and in the hotel.

We have one of our best ever generations moving slowly to the adult hockey right now, the expectations are quite high for the next decade, so with a team built around the likes of Slafkovsk媒, Nemec, Me拧谩r, Dvorsk媒, Honzek, Gajan and others I see our near future in positive way, You know I am not known for being too optimistic about slovak sport in general, but in this I feel pretty confident the upcoming years may bring us something interesting.

In the longer future it is not so unrealistic for Hungary to enter among the big guns in this sport though, assuming they will continue on their project they started recently

So far the best Slovak generation is that of the early 21st century?

Well, to be fair lately China abandoned plenty of their naturalized players whom they used only for Beijing 2022 in both male and female categories.

UAE in other hand is still a 99.9 % team of former russians, americans, canadians etc... :d

Is there a risk that Hungary will be at a better level than Slovakia in men's hockey in the near future?

They invested enormous amount of money in hockey few years ago, it is starting to pay off. I would not be surprised to see one impressive raise of hungarian hockey in the next years

Despite everything I thought German women's hockey was much better: bigger country, more players and greater traditions. Btw., do they naturalize people for the women's team in Hungary, like in China?

Have they recruited any dual nationals?

Probably only those who have played with us before. There is no chance of aquistion someone from the NHL because there is too little time.

The new staff has already been presented. I wonder if the results will be better than the Canadian school? There is little time... What do you think?

Because Russia earned their ticket through combined results at the last two World Chamipionships, and Belarus didn't ;)

The last time Russia played was in February 2022 in Beijing at the Olympics, and Belarus probably even earlier. We don't know what form these teams are in, which players will decide to play at the Olympics, etc. For example, Italy in football, less than a year after winning Euro 2021, didn`t qualify for the World Cup after losing at home to North Macedonia...

By the way, why does Russia still have a chance at the Olympics ticket and Belarus doesn't? In theory, each team should have an equal chance and, for example, maybe they should play a play-off games for that place in a format like Russia-Belarus-France-Norway?

Interesting if confirmed. The only question is: will another outstanding coach change anything in the game of the Italian national team? It`s crucial to return to the Elite before the 2026 Olympics.

Czechs obviously. There no question about.

Plus, Since last year Whoever play against Switzerland will receive always support from Slovaks.

As a child, I really liked the great Czech team from the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries with Hasek, Jagr, etc. The Czechs at this time won gold at Olympics Games in Nagano and three times in a row World Championships? Too bad I'm not in Prague now :( Why don't you like Swiss?
