    Qualification Pathway

    Quota places are allocated to the NOC(s).

    The UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 is used to allocate the 190 athletes quota places.

    A specific UCI Track Olympic ranking by nations 2023-2024 is established for each of the events of Track Cycling.

    Each UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 includes the points acquired in the following events during the period:

    • The last two editions of the respective Continental Championships;
    • Best two results in UCI Track Nations Cup in each of the seasons 2023 and 2024; and
    • The 2023 UCI (Elite) Track World Championships.

    Each UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 shall apply the points scales adapted as follow:

    • Continental Championships points multipied by 0.75
    • Nations Cup points as is
    • World Championships points multipied by 1.5

    In individual events, only the best rider of each nation in each event will score points for the corresponding ranking.

    In team events, only the best team of each nation in each event will score points for the corresponding ranking.

    For each event, points shall be allocated according to the applicable points scale considering only one rider, respectively team, for each nation. The ranking of any further rider, respectively team, shall be disregarded (for example, if riders or teams from the same NOC rank first and second, the NOC ranked third shall be allocated the points for rank two).

    Team Sprint

    The eight (8) best ranked NOCs on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 will each qualify a team of three (3) athletes.

    Sprint and Keirin

    The seven (7) best ranked NOCs on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 of each event, which have not qualified any quota places in Team Sprint, will qualify one (1) quota place in the respective event. In the case of Sprint, the minimum allocation per continent must be respected.

    The seven (7) NOCs having obtained a quota place for Sprint are given the right to enter (1) athlete in the Keirin. Likewise, the seven (7) NOCs having obtained a quota place for Keirin are given the right to enter (1) athlete in the Sprint. In both cases without additional quota.

    In addition, NOCs qualified in the Team Sprint are given the right to enter two (2) athletes in each of the Sprint and Keirin, subject to all of the following conditions being met:

    • The selected athletes must already be qualified for and entered in another Track event or another Cycling discipline;
    • All quotas per NOC per event must be respected (maximum 2 athletes per NOC).

    The toal number of athletes taking part in Sprint and Keirin could therefore reach a maximum of 30.

    Team Pursuit

    The ten (10) highest ranked NOCs on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 will each qualify a team of four (4) athletes.

    Madison

    The five (5) best ranked NOCs on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 which have not qualified any quota places in Team Pursuit will each qualify a team of two (2) athletes.

    In addition, NOCs qualified in the Team Pursuit are given the right to enter one team of two (2) athletes in Madison, subject to all of the following conditions being met:

    • The selected athletes must already be qualified for and entered in another Track event or another Cycling discipline, and;
    • All quotas per NOC per event must be respected (maximum 1 Team of 2 athletes per NOC).

    The toal number of athletes taking part in Madison could therefore reach a maximum of 15.

    Omnium

    The seven (7) highest ranked NOCs on the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024, respecting the minimum allocation per continent, which have not directly qualified any quota places in Madison will each qualify one (1) quota place.

    In addition, the fifteen (15) NOCs qualified in the Madison are given the right to enter one (1) athlete in Omnium, subject to all of the following conditions being met:

    • The selected athlete must already be qualified for and entered in another Track event or another Cycling discipline, and;
    • All quotas per NOC per event must be respected (maximum 1 athlete per NOC).

    The toal number of athletes taking part in Omnium could therefore reach a maximum of 22.

    Whenever qualification through the UCI Track Olympic Ranking of a first event gives right to the NOC to enter an athlete or team in a second event (Team Sprint to Sprint and Keirin; Team Pursuit to Madison; Team Pursuit or Madison to Omnium), the NOC concerned must confirm participation in the first event in order to benefit of such automatic right of entry in the second (or third) event. If the NOC does not confirm entry in the first event, it may still qualify quota places for the second (or third) event via the other applicable criterion (i.e. the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 for the second (or third) event).

    Special provisions

    • In each gender, if a continent is not represented in any sprint type event (Team Sprint, Sprint or Keirin), the highest ranked NOC on the UCI Track Olympic ranking 2022-2024 for Sprint of that continent, shall be entitled to one (1) quota place in the Sprint event. Any such allocation will result in a corresponding reduction (max. 1 per NOC) of places allocated to NOCs through the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 for Sprint, in the reverse order of the latter.
    • In each gender, if a continent is not represented in any endurance type event (Team Pursuit, Madison or Omnium), the highest ranked NOC on the UCI Track Olympic ranking 2022-2024 for Omniumof that continent, shall be entitled to one (1) quota place in the Omnium event. Any such allocation will result in a corresponding reduction of places allocated to NOCs through the UCI Track Olympic Ranking 2022-2024 for Omnium, in the reverse order of the latter.
