  1. looks like you are going to play in 7th place match even though Hungary needed that probably more than you (for the Olympic qualification) btw I really enjoy watching Norway team play. they really deserve a place in semifinal. I just hope Denmark and Sweden match doesn't end up like something we had in Euro 2004 just kidding Norway is also Scandinavian and Denmark playing at home. no way they lose intentionally but imagine Sweden leading by 3 in last minute ... both teams will settle for that. that's why last group matches should be at the same time.
  2. I heard that from the Iranian commentator during the match, but I just never trust them they talk lots of nonsense
  3. Qatar and Korea completed the quarterfinal teams. so Vietnam is the only surprise of Round of 16. even though Qatar-Iraq match was very close but I assume Qatar was slightly favorite before the match. Iraq had some chances and few minutes before Qatar's goal there should be a penalty (on Mohannad Ali) for Iraq. Iraq was unlucky today they had 3 injuries today specially Humam Tariq's injury was crucial. looks like they wasted too much energy trying to beat Iran and win the group. ironically the guy who scored that nice free kick for Qatar, Bassam Hisham is in fact from Iraq ! South Korea also just survived in extra time against Bahrain. the outcome could be different if it wasn't for Bahrain GK's injury. from what I see Qatar is even a better team than Korea but still Korea is the favorite. Quarterfinals: vs vs vs vs
  4. unbelievable. how the hell they missed that chance in 122nd minute ! UAE was really lucky with that controversial penalty. Kyrgyz players ran out of gas in extra time but they had one 100% chance at the end. UAE was terrible so far. not just this. but the whole tournament. I don't think they stand a chance against Australia but then Australia was far from convincing.
  5. Kyrgyzstannnnn no kidding they are indeed my 2nd favorite team in this competition. they could win the match 6-2 if they were a bit smarter. but still here we go. extra time.
  6. Uzbekistan is truly the biggest choker in the AFC, the match was poor and boring probably one or two serious chances in the whole match. and when it comes to the penalties I was sure Uzbekistan is going to choke again. UAE just scored against my favorite country Kyrgyzstan looks like we will have UAE-Australia in QF.
  7. everybody expected a great match between two of the favorites but Japan scored an early easy goal and then parked the bus for 70 minutes. they won the match with less than 25% ball possession ! KSA had few chances but they couldn't create dangerous chances. so far 4 wins for Japan. all of them with 1 goal. I wonder if that's all they have or they are just saving themselves for next rounds. I think Vietnam will be easy for them.
  8. I think I was right to be worried about this match, things could be entirely different if Oman could score that penalty in 2nd minute, that was a great save by Beiro. and what a smart goal for ARJ . he was under lots of pressure after his poor performance against Iraq. which was his first match after 2 months of injury. when Oman opened up Taremi and Azmoun together missed something like 4-5 golden chances in 2nd half. I really hope they take their chances in next matches. I think China will be easier than Oman but in this round you can't underestimate anybody.
  9. what a day for ASEAN football so far. Vietnam kicked out Jordan and now Thailand is leading China 1-0 in half time. Thailand is actually playing better and deserved the lead so far. let's see what Marcello Lippi has in his sleeves for the 2nd half Vietnam beating Jordan wasn't a "big" surprise IMO. Jordan plays good against better teams but they are not the type to dominate so-called "weaker" teams. and actually Vietnam was the better team in 120 minutes. but I think Vietnam will be easy prey for the winner of KSA/JPN match. Jordan would be harder because of their fighting style.
  10. KSA always plays good against teams in their level. and they always lose by big margin against better European teams. almost the same goes to Bahrain, very tricky and smart team. they can't match the physicality of European teams though but even Qatar never had it easy against Bahrain. Japan on other hand had some respectful results lost by only few goals to Spain and Iceland and played good against Croatia (except the first 5 minutes) and then they lost to two Asian teams Bahrain and Korea despite having the lead most of the match and will play Angola for the last place, I won't be surprised if they lose this one too. they are really improved comparing to last year Asian Champ and Asian Games few months ago (with almost the same squad) but still they can't beat Bahrain and Korea !
  11. interesting, I didn't know that until reading your post here. I see in wikipedia that 7 spots are allocated to Asia ! I wonder if there is any source for that. that just doesn't make sense, 7 is TOO MUCH for Asia. usually there is a huge gap between top 5-6 and the rest and even those top 5 are nobodies in World of handball. but at least that's good for our team. even though Handball is probably our biggest sport in term of choking ! when Asia had 3 spots. we always finished 4th and whenever AHF had 4 spots we finished 5th. we also finished 2nd in Olympic qualifier with 1 spot available I wonder if they are capable of finishing 8th if there are 7 quotas for Asia I have to correct this "no increase for European teams" is probably not accurate, because Europe has 3 fixed quotas like other continents. you see more European teams in the competition only because of the number of European teams finishing in top 9 in previous tournament. Asia had 4 here (later 5 with Japan's WC) only because Qatar made it to the top 8 in 2017.
  12. Looks like we should kiss goodbye our chance of winning the title here. our psycho coach Queiroz started another crisis yesterday this time attacking the sport minister ! calling him a traitor to the country apparently he just found out the minister advised the football federation to not renew his contract after the world cup (which they didn't listen and kept him for another 6 months for this competition) and since he is a crying baby he couldn't wait and had to react in worst possible way right in middle of the competition. as usual he attacked more people in his interview but I just made it short. I wonder in what country a foreign coach can bash the sport minister like this . and also what coach creates such crisis in middle of the competition. and in 7 days this is his 2nd time doing this. I usually supported him mostly because his critics were corrupt and stupid , he is a very good coach but this is really crossing all the lines. even if a journalist in some cheap newspaper writes something about him he has to react. he reacts about every single thing. he just can't shout his mouth for 3 weeks and finish the competition if we had someone like Spanish football federation they would fire him right now in middle of the competition (as they did to Lopetegui) but our federation president is such a weak person and instead he apologized everybody for what Queiroz said as usual our enemy is ourselves, I'm very worried about this Oman match. I won't be surprised if they send Iran home ...
  13. most of them moved to Qatar at young age, to me that's fine because most of them are product of Qatar Aspire academy. it's not like they just bought already established players like what they are doing in other sports. I think Qatar will do fine in 2022 World Cup. not advancing from the group stage but they won't be a punching bag. this guy Al-Moez Ali already scored 7 goals and almost secured the topscorer award for himself. and I have to admit he is really good. as we know he is Sudanese but raised in Qatar.
  14. Qatar really humiliated Saudi Arabia. 2-0, they missed a penalty and they scored one more goal which disallowed by the ref for no reason. but I was mostly watching Lebanon match, they needed one more goal to qualify. they got eliminated only because of have more yellow cards ! Lebanon missed so many great chances. they could win the match 10-1 !!! hats to Lebanon they really tried and even scored their 4th goal in 98th minute ! now we have the bracket vs vs vs vs vs vs vs vs
  15. Uzbekistan, always choking they can't even beat a Japan B team. I hardly doubt they can beat Australia with such weak mentality. and damn it, two late goals by Oman sent them to the next round. most probably against Iran. I really hope we don't underestimate this Oman team. PS: I don't see Lebanon beating PRK by 4 goals to eliminate Vietnam and replace Oman as our next round opponent. but who knows.
  16. well actually Cuper doesn't need a miracle to get a draw from Japan and win the group. Japanese coach benched his whole starting lineup and will play with its B team vs Uzbekistan looks like they simply don't care about the next round and are not afraid of Australia at all.
  17. just checked the UWW rules and as expected they didn't think about such situation here, page 17 https://unitedworldwrestling.org/sites/default/files/2018-12/wrestling_rules.pdf
  18. but that was a good question I have to check UWW rules. I won't be surprised to see him disqualifying from this Olympics too. he was known in wrestling community as a master of doping. apparently his brother (Timur Taymazov Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting from Ukraine) was his personal doping coach.
  19. nothing, as far as I know the gold medalist Artur Taymazov lost his gold medal from 2008 and not this one (at least so far) Modzmanishvili silver medal will go to the monster Bilyal Makhov of Russia and Makhov's bronze medal will go to Daulet Shabanbay of Kazakhstan.
  20. technically our neighbors are and out of all of them, the only one we never hear about is Turkmenistan. but yeah only a sea separates us from Oman and other Persian gulf countries. they are almost neighbors yeah Korea was really impressive yesterday, I don't know if that was only because of Son or they just didn't push maximum in first two matches. I feel they somehow tried hard to beat China and avoid Iran until the final. they have a very bad record against Iran under Queiroz. 5 matches, 4 of them 1-0 for Iran and the other one 0-0. I think everybody is waiting for Qatar/KSA match but Japan-UZB match is also very important. if Japan wins I'm quite sure Qatar and KSA will try everything for a win and avoiding Japan but I'm not sure in case of Japan not beating Uzbekistan. Japan also has to beat Uzbekistan to avoid Australia in round of 16.
  21. is he an important player that his injury makes a big difference for Hungary ? I see his name in the stats, so he got injured today. what a pity I missed that moment.
  22. It's not like everybody is a die hard football fan to travel for just a match. (specially for a group round match) still we had 3000-5000 fans in stadium in both Abu Dhabi matches. and I'm sure we will have more in knockout rounds. both Turkmenistan and Oman were in our group in 1st round of World Cup qualifiers and we had one draw (and one win) against any of them. Oman is clearly better and almost beat Iran in Muscat. obviously the only 3rd placed team that I'm afraid of . but Turkmenistan isn't that bad too, they just collapsed against Uzbeks. I hope they qualify ,they are our neighbors after all and it will be a fun match for Azmoun as he is Turkmen himself. I was checking some stats, Queiroz is coaching Iran for almost 8 years and today was his 96th match as our coach, in those 96 matches, we were down in 20 of them .we lost 12 and only in 8 matches we managed to get a draw. which means under Queiroz we never won a match after being down at some point during the match ! only in one of those matches we took the lead back (Syria in WCQ qualifiers in Tehran) but still they tied the match 2-2 in last minute. so score the first goal against Iran and you are at least guaranteed a draw. that's a dangerous statistic for knockout round. specially for a team like Iran which is very weak on penalty shootouts.
  23. Yeah I know. I also could watch only the last 5 minutes of your handball match no not that one. that was dubious but I was talking that handball in 2nd half. but I advise you to not watch the whole match that was boring . very tense. lots of fouls, lots of protests. but boring from technical point of view. that was the exact opposite of that dramatic 2015 Iran-Iraq match . we played for a draw. and parked the bus for last 15-20 minutes with no shame. yes I think that was first match in a packed stadium so far. of course that wasn't the biggest stadium in this competition but lots of fans couldn't get a ticked since it was sold out long time ago. we had more fans in stadium today comparing to Iraq. there are lots of Iranians in UAE but almost all of them live in Dubai and it seems most of them are pissed off because of this performance. they wanted a win. and no matter what that was our only match in Dubai. from now on we will play in Abu Dhabi. now all Iranian media are trying to predict our next round opponent. it will be Palestine or Oman or Turkmenistan or Lebanon or North Korea. out of those teams only Oman is dangerous and it seems we will get Oman if normal results happen tomorrow. it's normal to predict Oman beating Turkmenistan and in this case Lebanon has to beat North Korea by 4 goals to qualify (and face Iran in Round of 16) which is unlikely even though PRK is a very bad team here but still I can't see Lebanon capable of scoring 4 goals.
  24. what a poor match, I think we just survived, Iraq played better in 2nd half even though they had just one dangerous chance (same for Iran, just one) I know we had a weird startling lineup but that's no excuse. and Ghoddos deserved a red card in first half. he was lucky , and on other hand there were 3 accidents in Iraq's box. I'm not sure about those two in first half but that handball in 2nd half was a clear penalty but I think we can't complain about the ref. a red card in first half could be disastrous. no injuries. no suspension , I think Queiroz got what he wanted from this match, he rested some key players. I'm glad we won't see this Iraq team in this tournament . they are tough, they won't be easy for any team.
  25. in handball that's possible . no need for injury excuses. you just can replace (if I'm not wrong) up to two players in middle of the tournament.
