  1. Karimi is on fire. he teched the Russian 12-1 !! next is Jden Cox for him. a very bad matchup but he was great today beating Sharfiov and Tsakulov quite easily so it will be Japan vs Belarus and Iran vs USA in the semis. the top half is just a joke
  2. Andreyev lost to Takahashi as expected. which eliminates Atri what an opportunity he wasted today. Sanaa, Uguev, Takahashi and Gilman into the semis. Uguev-Takahashi will be very interesting and that will be the real final
  3. it doesn't matter if you are on your knees. one foot or 2. a step out is when one foot goes completely out of the mat area while the knee is NOT on the mat. but as I said before the rule is not really clear here. I saw different calls for the exact same situations.
  4. too easy for Chakaev, that was obvious from the first match that Khinch is not in good shape today. he is one of my favorite wrestlers . nice guy and fun to watch. sad to watch him losing 10-0 . this will eliminate our Maghsoudi. still a good experience for him. I hope we can find someone good next year for the Olympic qualifiers. this is our weakest weight for sure. Cuba, india, Russia and Japan in SF at 65. I think Chakayev-Valdes final is highly possible now. obviously the best wrestlers in the competition today
  5. not a takedown for sure but that's where I call it double standards. earlier in the match when Akbari attacked him. Taketani went out and his knee touch the mat OUTSIDE of the mat, he wasn't on his knee when he left the mat. that action deserved a point more than the last one. as I said before the rule is not clear here. the rules say when you are on your knees that's not count as a step out. but sometimes I see they give points for that. btw this is stupid to have all QFs at the same time. they have enough time to use at least 2 mats for that. not all 4
  6. nope. only the finals this year . and only if it doesn't conflict with European football matches btw this time a last second WIN for Iran. even though I believe the last call was dubious. I would not give point for that (Akbari would lose 2-2) but again Akbari deserved a point earlier in the match when the score was 1-0. the Japanese stepped out , this step out rule when you are on your knees is really not clear. so many double standards here
  7. thanks UWW is working now but always good to have another option in case btw they are always on Mat C. all Hungarian matches are on Mat C intentionally. most of Iran matches are on Mat C as well (excpet when they are at the same time with HUngary) because usually Iranian channels buy the right of qualification rounds too, not this year !! but still they put most of Iran matches on Mat C ! I don't know why
  8. lol while the scoreboard still works the image doesn't move on Mat C. at least you can see the score lol is there a live stream for mat C ? I mean apart from UWW website
  9. this is unbelievable . Atri beat the main favorite Bekhbayar in first round and then only 10-15 minutes later they called him up on other mat wrestling against Andreyev who had a bye in first round . totally unfair. shame on UWW. Atri was down 3-1 with 20 seconds to go but made a moved and scored a takedown. he was going to win 3-3 but with only 10 seconds to go which he could kill on top he went STUPIDLY for a gut wrench scored 2 but then Andreyev jumped up and scored 2 and won the match 5-5. I wonder how stupid is someone to try a gut wrench in last 10 seconds when he didn't even need that. this is stupid to beat the best wrestler in the field and then losing to someone much weaker. Atri was very tired the whole match because he had no time for recovery again "against someone who had a bye in first round" still he almost won the match if it wasn't for such a stupid mistake. I can't believe this is the 3rd match we are losing in last 20 seconds. I can understand Hosseinkhani losing to Burroughs but Yakhkeshi and Atri lost it with less than 5 seconds to go when they had it totally under control !
  10. well respesctul performance from youngster Maghsoudi against Olympic Champ Khinchegashvili. he lost only 7-3. and this was his first ever experience in senior level. I hope Khinch makes it to the final and gives another chance to him. he just won silver in World Juniors a month ago and never wrestled in senior competition even inside Iran.
  11. Ligeti was hungary's only chance for medal today and he almost pinned Khizriev at the start of the match but missed that opportunity and lost it eventually. so it will be Hadi vs Khizriev for bronze. for Iran Yakhkeshi made it to the bronze medal match and Yazdani stormed into the mat and won his first repechage match. on other news. Ali Aliyev lost to Valdes of Cuba !
  12. That's not really true as thepharoah said. Iranian regime just supports some selected shiite groups only because they ask for help. they also support Hamas (which is Sunni) and it seems some people just don't know there is a huge population of Sunnis living in Iran. they also support Bashar Assad blindly who believes in a completely different religion. 40 years ago right after the revolution yeah they were thinking about becoming the leader of muslim world , (they were idealistic and indeed stupid). that's what they call, you should know in Iranian media they rarely (or almost never) separate Sunni and Shiite. they just call them all Islamic countries. the tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia existed way before the Islamic revolution in Iran. this is not only religious. Saudi Arabia (alongside Netanyahu in Israel) just dreams about the breakup of Iran and now with Trump in office they think this is the best time to put maximum pressure on Iran. I never ever support most actions of the current regime in Iran and I hope to see them change one day in my lifetime but only in this case this is Saudi Arabia wanting conflict not Iran. they want to push USA into war with Iran, they could achieved that already if a Iran had another president in office. Iran's strategy is probably just stalling and hoping for Trump not winning the next election. they have no Plan B if it doesn't happen.I don't know what will happen but one thing is for sure that Iran won't surrender to Trump's demands. not an option, Iran is not North Korea where only one person decides about everything. the politics in Iran is way too complicated.
  13. Finally a GP gold medal after 2 years ! very good day for Hadipour. he was really fun to watch the whole day and he was great in the final giving the Korean 3 or 4 head kick who was much taller than him ! he lost few times to this guy Kim Tae-hoon. if I'm not wrong this was his first win against him. I think this is the end for Iran as we have no competitor tomorrow. 3 medals for 5 athletes. 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze. not bad. Ashourzadeh was a bit disappointing lost to Spain in last few seconds but I think Hadipour is now our guy in this weight. Ashourzadeh used to be fantastic he is now just average. PS: at least in this case there is a space between Hadipour and the 2nd part of his name still he is just Hadipour. not Hadipour Seighalani !
  14. 2nd day draws are out. none of our wrestlers got lucky but still better than brutal first day draw 57, Atri has the worst possible draw. he starts with Mongolia (which is my first pick to win the gold) if he wins then Andreyev which is a very good wrestler. then defending World Champion Takahashi and if he goes that far Uguev !! that's the worst possible draw. the bottom half is not VERY easy (comparing to what we had today in 74, 86 and 125) but still easier than the top half. we have Gilman, Edisherashvili, Kang, Atli and Artas Sanaa there. 65, we are sending a junior this year (not because he is a genious because we have nobody here !) and everybody know he has no chance but then he got the Olympic Champion Khinchegashvili right in the first round ! beside that we have Chakhaev and Stiebler in this half (facing each other in first round) there are few favorites in bottom half, Aliyev, Valdes, Bajrang, Gadzhiev and Niyazbekov. and there is a wrestler from Netherlands who is Iranian I checked his results and he used to get some respectful results in Iranian nationals long time ago. 79, draw looks balanaced here even though we have more favorites in bottom half but two big names (Dake and the Russian) are in top half. Akbari got Takatani in 2nd round which won't be easy if he wins he will wrestle Kurbanov in QF (beat him in Asian Final this year) even though there is Russian-born wrestler from Romania and he is good enough to beat Kurbanov. we also have Jabrail Hasanov and Ali Shabanov in bottom half. 92, brutal draw for Karimi who was supposed to be our 2nd best chance for gold. after easy first round he has to face 2012 Olympic Champion Sharifov. then Russia in 3rd round and if he goes further Cox or Marsagashili waiting for him in SF ! all favorites are in bottom half. no exceptions. all of them !!! the only half decent wrestler in top half (as far as I know) is Serdar Boke !
  15. what a pity. Hadi lost the opportunity of his life for a world title. the final score was 13-6 but the match was close. Hadi just made two stupid mistakes and gave up 10pts in two actions. when Geno was dead tired and only Hadi had a brain he could win this and the world title . Geno will beat the CHinese guy easily tomorrow. so this is it. we will have 3 wrestlers trying for bronze tomorrow. I really think we deserved more. we lost matches we could and should win. Russia and USA have all of their 4 wrestlers still alive either in the final or in repechage.
  16. Bonne to the final which put Yakhkeshi for repechage. still that's sad Yakhkeshi dominated and almost beat this guy. that was a gold medal chance I hope at least he wins the bronze. he has to beat Romania and USA. both are tough but winnable.
  17. I don't think that's their fault. (they have to be very motivated and love their job to do extra research about everybody's names) that's Iranian officials fault to not care about such a simple thing. from what I see only IJF cares about this and fixed some long names of Iranian judokas. UWW even made them longer by adding father's name yeah as I said before the 2nd part is 99% to be ignored. but since there is no space. it's hard for a non-Persian speaking person to see which is the 2nd part.
  18. how is that even possible to have a joint team in an individual sport ? and wrestling didn't apply for the stupid mixed team idea
  19. a bit summary of today morning session 61kg: no big upset so far. I was expecting Bonne, Rashidov and Lomtadze in semifinal. for the last one I was thinking about Dubov but he is not young anymore. didn't see his match vs Colon but still 10-0 is surprising. Colon was last minute replacement for team USA . ti will be surprising if he medals here . Rashidov was lucky against Mongolia and the last call was a bit controversial . our young/inexperienced Yakhkeshi almost Bonne. he was better than my expectations but made a dumb mistake at the end. I think we can count on him for the future. this is only his second (or maybe third) time for him leaving Iran to wrestle abroad ! he let Bonne score exactly the same way he always does. vs vs 74kg: Burroughs losing to Sidaov was a bit upset . not a big upset though. Chamizo won 3 easy matches and his first real test will be in SF. hard to predict between these 2. in bottom half that was a bit surprising to see Abdurakhmonov losing in first round .still not a huge upset. Georgia now has 3 wrestlers in semifinal. I think Demirtas will win the SF. about our wrestler. I absolutely had no hope on Hosseinkhani but he almost beat Burroughs. he was the better wrestler the whole match but as usual lost it in last seconds. vs vs 86kg: I talked enough about Yazdani's match. that was probably the only big surpirse of this weight. Taylor looks great and I think he will win the gold. on top half which was very easy Erdin beat Makoev and the rest will be easy for him. Friev also took advantage of his easy draw and now he is one match away from the world medal. vs vs 125kg: Akgul losing to Hadi was a huge surprise. we also had another big surprise Gwiazdowski losing to Deng. having India vs China in SF of heavyweight Wch is a big big surprise but they both got lucky with the draw. specially Sumit. but now he is there. there is a chance for medal. but I expect Deng to win and get a silver at the end. Hadi will face Petriashvili in semifinal. after beating Akgul he is probably full of confidence but Geno is a great wrestler and still I expect him to win this. vs vs
  20. Yes and both Turks are huge favorites to make it to the final.specially Erdin with his super easy draw. I think at least Makoev has no problem winning the bronze.
  21. who said that ? well I never had faith in Hadi but he was very good today. before Akgul he beat Olympic bronze medalist Saidov quite easily. this is his chance to win a medal here. ironically he almost retired from wrestling after Rio 2016 controversy (the way he didn't selected for the team) at least we will have a wrestler for afernoon session ! and Hadi was the last one I was expecting to make it this far.
  22. what a drama. Burroughs-Sidakov match. the last 30 seconds was just wow. first Burroughs took the lead. Sidakov made it 4-3 with a TD. then Jordan madfe a TD made it 5-4 and Sidakov had a pushout with just 1 second to go. 5-5 (later 6-5 with a failed challenge) all these actions in last 30 seconds. and with this Hosseinkhani is officially out. 125kg American guy also lost to China. 10 minutes ago thery were thinking about 4 finalists. now they have only 2 in the SF.
  23. semifinal for today , final for tomorrow
  24. LOL. I would celebrate this if it was the first match of the day . but we had lots of disappointment today. I'm not even happy about this. even though I was sure he is going to lose in last seconds , surprise surprise he didn't. it could be a perfect day for Iran. both Hosseinkhani and Yakhkeshi wrestled actually very well against great opponents but just made stupid mistakes at the end. the other 125 SF will be between China and India !!!! wow ! Hadi beat both of those guys quite easily in Jakarta. and one of them will be in the final. shame of UWW and their stupid draw system.
  25. well. Yakhkeshi was completely dominating Bonne. he was leading 8-6 and Bonne was deadly tired but then all of a sudden he gave up a 4pts throw just with 1 or 2 seconds before the end. looks like they are all learning from Hosseinkhani !
