Do you have any thoughts on the final qualifying round ?

We can certainly put Slovakia in the Final Qualification tournament ! Just need to determine the other two to advance

Question for anybody here. I see the women are having a prelim round in December then final Olympic Qualification in Feb. 2025. Does anyone here follow the women's tournaments ? I never have but think i will watch for the first time. Anybody have thoughts on the 21 teams trying for the 3 spots ?

If Russia is out they reorganize the groups so USA would have Germany, Latvia, Denmark in their group rather then the current setup of Russia, Slovakia, and Latvia.

Sadly no more qualifications till 2027 except for the ladies with two rounds in December and Feb.

I have to give a ton of credit to Japan. They played tough against Norway and Denmark... I doubt anyone expected that.

Only 3 days away from starting to determine 3 more qualifiers for 2026... Plus lets remember a provisional 4th qualifier The best 2nd place finisher will actually stay alive till next May when they make a decision on Russia

i am a crazy enough nut that i will watch all 18 games ! This is great news... Months ago i watched all 18 in round two when Turkey and Taipei were in it. So if i did it then i sure will now.

We have quite a few different people on this thread from different countries so it would be interesting to get your different thoughts. Which lower ranked team has the best chance to spring a upset on opening day ? I put the lower ranked teams on the left Hungary vs Kazakhstan Austria vs Slovakia Ukraine vs France Slovenia vs Latvia Japan vs Norway Great Britain vs Denmark I think Ukraine has the best shot. How about you ?

Belfast defeats Great Britain 4-1.... Now only one tuneup left if USA news has it right. Denmark vs Latvia on Monday.

Most of the tuneup games are now done Denmark scores 3 goals in a 8 minute period in the 3rd to defeat Latvia 3-2 Ukraine leads 5-0 midway thru 3rd period before Hungary scores 3 straight goals Final Ukraine 6 Hungary 3 In a close game Kazakhstan defeats Pirati Chomutov 4-2 Great Britain game still going on.

Thanks here in the USA they listed the wrong day for these two games.

What a difference a day makes. After a overtime Norway vs France game the other day Norway bombs France today 9-0. Shots on goal 41-18 ! Mats Zuccarello with 1 goal and 3 assists. Austria over Slovenia 2-1 with a pair of 2nd period goals. No results yet on the final tuneups for Great Britain and Kazakhstan games.

Sorry I have never found the ability to see the Latvia games. I assume you might be referring to the two vs Denmark. Sadly Denmark is another i have not found yet. However honestly i looked for Denmark far less then i did Latvia.

Another tuneup game Norway vs France. Almost just like yesterdays game. France lead 2-1 after two periods. With 2.41 left in the game Tampa Bay Lighting player Emil Lilleberg tied the score. Then 4 minutes into OT Emil Lilleberg scored to win the game for Norway 3-2 . Also a assist for Mats Zuccarello with the Minnesota Wild No result on the Great Britain vs Cardiff game

Well we got the first tuneup game today. Slovenia vs Austria. Slovenia scores 16 minutes into 2nd period to take a 1-0 lead. With 53 seconds left in the game Marco Kaspar of Detroit Red Wings assisted by David Reinbacher of Montreal Canadians ties the game. Then 3 minutes into overtime Marco Kaspar scores again to give Austria a 2-1 win. Tomorrow two more tuneups. Norway vs France & Cardiff vs Great Britain,

Likely won't be decided till March 2025 if Russia in or out. Could go either way but placing bet on best 2nd place team.

Great to see that the next Olympic event will be the final qualification for the 2026 ice Hockey tournament. Please everyone keep us updated on who will be playing in this 3 group 12 team final elimination.
