One more tough loss....Sathiyan Gnanasekaran lost in 2nd round to a lower ranked hong kong player in Table tennis....but the opponent seems to have some chinese background as he was playing too good
In shooting it seems like we are continuing from where were at Rio.......after rio there were lot of youngsters in indian shooting performing exceedingly well
But the pressure of Olympics and lack of experience is getting over them
With lot of potential but nothing to show as of now in terms of medals
Hopefully on 27th in mixed team events they will raise to occasion...am pinning hopes on that day
Sania and Ankita lost their match after leading 6-0, 5-3....now i don't know what is the reason here (is it like some one injured? )
It seems that Manu Bhaker has equipment malfunctioning during qualification round resulting in loss of time....still she shot good score and finished in 12th
Already we are having tough draws and competition and adding to them these type of issues
With the way things are going indian might find difficulty in getting the medal in mixed team air pistol event also
If you consider the qualifications scores in both mens and womens section china has 2 pairs who are in top 8, ukraine has also one pair in top 8 followed closely by Iran, ROC and India
So I feel with the china in competition the medal is not taken for granted......same may be the case in 10m Air rifle mixed team event also
Manu and Yashashwini unable to qualify for 10m Air pistol finals...
Disappointment news keeps on coming from shooting
vikas krishnan surprisingly finding difficulty against japanese boxer
I think most of indian action for today is completed except
Vikas krishnan boxing bout against japanese and
Indian women's hockey match against netherlands
ExpandDisappointing performance of the day surely goes to Sai. Though our shooters should have done better but archery n shooting are most unpredictable, hence they get the benefit on their performances.
Hope Sindhu takes cue from sai performance and comes out firing on all cylinders straight away....as she has decent hongkong opponent in round robin matches to overcome
Even a blip like sai will keep completely out of olympics
ExpandYes had no hopes on him at all. His recent results showed that he had no confidence at all. Its sad to see our top rated baddy play so horrible.
May be he lost his hopes as soon the moment he found out kento memoto as his QF opponent...
But anyway medal is not expected from him
This disappointment has been completely covered by fantastic win by Satwik and Chirag
One more good news is chirag and satwik got the all important win over 3rd seed chinese taipei team...
It was very tough match where they came back in 3rd thrilling set
They need one more win to move to quarters !!!
But the saving grace is assured medal of mirabhai chanu..
she lived up to the expectations...well done...congratulations to her
As i was saying in shooting we have to lower our expectations...only saurabh seems more composed but he lost in final
With the way things are going Only medal options left for india in shooting is in mixed team events
such a disappointment saurabh is eliminated at 6th position in finals...
thats why had it could been 2 finalists for india, most probably india could have won the medal
Mirabhai chanu is in 2nd position after snatch with a lift of 87 kgs
Now she is now left with clean and jerk where she holds the world record....but chinese is way ahead of her in snatch
FIngers crossed for medal!!!
Saurabh qualified for final by finshing 1st...
Abhishek completely lost it in final 4 shots...he was in race until then
It would have been much better if both qualified for finals which could have assured us a medal
Now entire onus is on Saurabh....i hope he continues same tempo in finals !!!
Sauarabh chaudhary is doing great in qualifcaition rounds....he is in 2nd position in 4th round of shooting
Abhishek is at 14th position....he is slowly picking up after lying in 24th position
Hope both qualifies for finals !!!
some more good news...after thrilling match india defeated newzealand by 3-2 in hockey....
its a good result considering newzealand is a tricky team
not such good news from shooting...both elavenil and apurvi did not qualified to finals
if you observe 2 koreans and one chinese reached finals
considering india performance at last world cup where korean and chinese shooters were not there, we have to keep our expectations realistic in shooting
Now its up to saurabh and abhishek to give good news !!!
Good news from archery....indian mixed team entered quarters....most likely they have to face koreans
In Archery mens team is big time disappointment and particularly atanu das....deepika did decent job
But some how our archery team finda way to finish ninth place in events where we have medal chances (i.e. womens individaul, mixed team and mens team) resulting in QF draw against korea....the only way we could have got archery medal is avoiding koreans before semis...
Most surprising is Atnau finishing behind praveen jadhav resulting in breakup of atanu-deepika combination
As some one said its either gold or no medal in archery....i hope they raises their level from now onwards

In womens 25m pistol we have rahi sarnobat and manu bhaker....but 10m is manu's strong point...rahi is world cup gold medalist
In 50m 3 pos women we have anjum mudgil and tejaswini....in mens we have aiswarya singh and sanjeev rajput...out of all these aiswarya singh looks promising
We may expect some good shooting from rahi and aiswarya.....but considering the way things are going am keeping lower expectations even in mixed team events
