Absolutely not sorry. FAA drags everyone he plays with down, and his season has been so piss poor that I’d be surprised to see him win more than a couple of matches here. I’d say Fernandez (or a lesser chance with Fernandez/Dabrowski in doubles, Dabrowski is mediocre on clay)

The women have a spying scandal... the men have a game that seemingly ended with projectiles and a pitch storming after a last second tying goal, THEN have the teams callled back hours later for VAR to nullify the goal to an empty stadium

Soccer is a complete fiasco already and it barely started :roflmao:

Like in Tokyo? :p

I don’t know, I feel like Charron shouldn’t have been chosen. She’s already been a flagbearer at a major (ish) sporting event, let someone else experience it.

Won't hear me defend the picks for Tokyo. Their hands were tied to a point, but I don't feel much need to rationalize them either

A couple weeks ago I posted I figured we had potential for 28-29 with our lineup... since then the only real changes effecting that have been LePage pulling out, and McIntosh withdrawing from the 200free... so I'll amend it to 27

Looks like FIFA will investigate. Will be interesting how thorough it is. I'd wager this is something we've been doing regularly since Herdman's days with the women. The men's team were accussed of it during his tenure there too. Probably been standard operating procedure for a decade.

Whether we get a full house cleaning, or if FIFA is content with a notable sacrificial lamb or two

For the other Fire TV users, they don't have it on the Gem app yet, but the ICI TOU.TV app has their Olympic section up and it looks pretty good. Navigation has a couple more options than last time. I can't imagine the English one wouldn't be the same structure. Things seem to be well organized. Uses the Paris 2024 pictograms heavily, which are a bit esoteric for broad consumption, but they always include the event name with them.

Here's hoping it works as well as it looks

The Gem app now has their Paris 2024 section live as well!

At this point, I agree with Eric Koreen, I'll believe he'll play in the Olympics only when I see him on the Olympics court

They have a good variety of streams up, but wish they showed all tennis courts/table tennis matches/badminton courts/judo mats etc instead of only one. Unless I’m mistaken?

I don't believe they typically have recently, unfortunately

They usually have the field feeds for athletics, and I think I've seen them pick up the odd secondary court in tennis if a Canadian was playing, but that's about it. I don't think they do it typically for badminton, judo, table tennis etc

I think Steve Armitage called swimming prior to Rio but wasn't able to do play by play that year for some reason

Expand

He was diagnosed with heart failure just before the games. Friedman stepped in on very late notice, and aside from the disastrous 15 minutes, I think actually equated himself pretty well doing a couple tough sports on short notice.

It was only announced a week before the Olympics. Not sure how much warning they had before that, but given they had went forward with all the announcements like this with Armitage included, I don't imagine it was more than a week or two tops

Not a fan of that pairing of Despatie and Abel. Hopefully Fillion is on the international feed, she's taken to the broadcast booth quickly and well

Glad to see they have Harnett back on cycling.

Like the Snoek and MacDonald pairing for swimming

Could have lived without Soonias on volleyball

Wait huh? :yikes:

Eliotte Friedman is an NHL commentator, surprised to see that he’ll be doing canoe sprint during the Olympics?

Also, “Calling the highly anticipated debut of the sport of breaking” or not… :p

Friedman called the swimming, and even diving IIRC) in 2016. He was actually pretty good.

But he did have an all-time terrible 15 minute stretch where he emphatically called gold medal swims by Phelps and Oleksiak by the wrong names

Sounds llike Athletics gets a total of 1,810 athletes, and has been having issues planning around it.

Read one article, and it sounds like there are work arounds. Rather than "alternatives" they'll be considered "replacement athletes" and can still stay in the village but may not have full accreditation.

Solid line up.

Anyone know if they announced any other upcoming tune-up games (for the men or women) aside from tonights?

Yeah, I've read that too, but just because you're limited to that many, doesn't mean you get that many

This initial allocations only give us one boat... but it only gives everyone one boat. So maybe more can still be awarded, I don't know, but as I've said, I've never seen anyone actually list two C1 boats for Canada.
