For context, the only other two riders to do so were Bernard Hinault and Eddy Merckx, both once in the 70's. No record for Cavendish, sort of a cruel punishment for the team's arrogance: letting the group go Friday so Cavendish could take the record on the Champs-Élysées instead of some town somewhere in whoknowswhere. They made this a memorable tour despite GC not being competitive at all. And of course Mollema's stage win on my birthday, that was rather generous of him!
