New Revised Qualification has been sent to IOC for approval.

Does anyone know what the changes proposed were?  And why have they not already been considered and accepted/rejected by IOC, given that there are continental champs happening right now?

apparently it's about giving Oceania athletes a chance to have an online event !

it was mandatory for everybody to participate in one event in 2021 (extended period because of COVID) which was the continental championships for everybody. but with Oceania Champs being cancelled IWF is looking for a way to make up for that without having to change everything completely.

Wait... So IWF will send an official to all those 15 islands or what? Surely they don't expect the online results to be trustworthy by default...? :yikes:

we don't know the details. maybe they gather in 2 or 3 confirmed places

that was what ITG reported from their proposal. nothing confirmed but that makes sense actually. they have no other option with Oceania Championship's cancellation.

it's not really about the results. last event isn't going to make "huge" changes in the ranking. it's mostly about the doping test. that's why participating in one event at this time is mandatory. wherever they lift, there should be doping test, that's for sure.

Online event? This would be the last qualification event?

the last qualification event will be the World Junior Championships but I assume nobody from that tournament can go to the Olympics. all of them were maximum 17 when the qualification period started !

and that online event (even if that happens) is only for the Oceania athletes, not for everybody. for most weightlifters Colombia event is the last chance.

109kg ranking

1. :ARM Martirosyan (NOC is limited to 1)

- :CHN Yang

2. :UZB Djuraev

3. :UKR Chumak - 3765 (NOC is limited to 2)

- :RUS Bochkov - 3722 (no) (NOC is limited to 1)

4. :RUS Naniev - 3698 (NOC is limited to 1)

5. :POL Michalski - 3574

6. :BLR Aramnau - 3568 (NOC is limited to 1)

- :IRI Hashemi - 3560 (no) (5 events)

7. :LAT Plesnieks - 3556

8. :BUL Hristov - 3439 (NOC is limited to 2)

9. :KOR Jin - 3372

- :KOR Jeong - 3358 (no)

10. :ESP Ruiz - 3292

11. :USA Kitts - 3281

- :KAZ Bersanov - 3192 (NOC is limited to 1)

- :JPN Mochida - 3144 (5 events)

12. :AUT Martirosjan - 3091

13. :VEN Gonzalez - 3060

13. :CUB Columbie - 2923

I believe RUS, ARM and BLR will use their only quota here in this weight but of course that's not guaranteed. Aramnau was terrible in Euro. Martirosytan just killed someone in a car accident. I also think BUL send Hristov

it's possible for Hashemi of IRI to go to Colombia and makes himself eligible. Iran won't pick him if someone at 96kg makes it.

:ARM:UZB:UKR:RUS:POL:BLR:LAT:BUL == :KOR:ESP:USA:CMR

* only few points separate AUS, ASA  and SAM in Oceania

+109kg ranking

1. :GEO Talakhadze

- :ARM Minasyan (NOC is limited to 1)

2. :IRI Davoudi - 3717 (NOC is limited to 2)

- :BLR Ziaziulin - 3595 (NOC is limited to 1)

3. :BRA Reis - 3559

4. :SYR Assad - 3439

5. :TKM Toychyyev - 3414

6. :ALG Bidani - 3311 (Africa)

- :RUS Savchuk - 3182 (5 events) (NOC is limited to 1)

7. :CZE Orsag - 3126

?. :KOR Ham - 3125 (more than 4 quotas available for KOR)

?. :AUT Martirosjan - 3091 (also eligible for 109kg)

- :CZE Kucera - 3088 (2nd CZE)

- :JPN Murakami - 3031 (5 events)

8. :HUN Nagy - 3023

9. :USA Wilkes - 2896

10. :NZL Liti - 2797 (Oceania)

11. :ISR Litvinov - 2772

12. :NED Kuworge - 2633

13. :MEX Manriquez - 2474

This weight is probably the hardest one to predict ! so many uncertainties

KOR has a guy in top 8 but he was very poor in Asia, I don't think they pick him

the biggest question is about ARM and BLR and if they use their only quota here. a month ago that was impossible but not anymore.

JPN can send this guy to Colombia and easily make him qualify

Martirosjan (AUT) who is a 109kg can easily qualify in this weight if he wants too.

:GEO:IRI:BRA:SYR:TKM:ALG:CZE:HUN == :USA:NZL:ISR

if Bidani stays in top 8, there is nobody else from Africa in the ranking !! that quota will be reallocated. same for Asia if KOR and JPN both decide to not qualify in this weight.
