dcro 10,172 Posted March 2, 2020 #121 Share Posted March 2, 2020 ICF confirmed Oceanian spots. No surprises, although New Zealand apparently still has to choose between K1 and K2. Benolympique 1 #banbestmen
dcro 10,172 Posted March 30, 2020 #122 Share Posted March 30, 2020 New Zealand should have decided already, but looks like ICF will not update their table for a while... https://www.canoeicf.com/sites/default/files/canoe_sprint_quota_allocation_-_tokyo_2020_-_media_format.pdf #banbestmen
dcro 10,172 Posted June 12, 2020 #123 Share Posted June 12, 2020 ICF updated their qualification table. https://www.canoeicf.com/sites/default/files/canoe_sprint_quota_allocation_-_tokyo_2020_-_media_format.pdf The only difference is that Samoa got the place in MK1 200 and Cook Islands got it in MK1 1000 (rather than the other way around). Not sure how this worked, but it doesn't really make any difference, as their athletes will likely decide to start in both K1 events anyway. #banbestmen

mrv86 2,852 Posted March 6, 2021 #125 Share Posted March 6, 2021 According to qualification rules Quote D.3.3.4. ... In the situation that a Continental Qualification Competition cannot be held, then the results of the 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships for the relevant event will be used to determine the athlete quota places. Quota places will be allocated to the respective Continent, for which the Continental Qualification Competition could not be held ... D.3.3.9. Maximum quotas at Continental Qualification Competitions An NOC can qualify a maximum of two (2) athlete quota places in each category, that is, Kayak men, Kayak women, Canoe men and Canoe women at the Continental Qualification Competitions. The unused athlete quota places must be returned to the International Canoe Federation as outlined in Section G - Confirmation Process of Athlete Quota places and Section H - Reallocation of Athlete Quota Places. D.3.3.10.Qualification in the same boat class over two distances at Continental Qualification Competitions At the Continental Qualification Competitions an NOC can only qualify one boat per class regardless of the distance (ie. Men K1 1000m and 200m, Women 500m and 200m). Should the NOC qualify in both distances in the same boat class then the NOC will be attributed the place in 1000m for Men or 500m for Women. The unused athlete quota place in the 200m distance will be reallocated to the next highest ranked NOC in that event, not yet qualified at the Continental Qualification Championship. So, if I interpret correctly, quotas could be distributed like this: W C1 200m: W C2 500m: Should go to but Nevin Harrison already qualified in C1 200, so not sure what they will do. W K1 200m: W K1 500m: W K2 500m: M C1 1000m: M C2 1000m: M K1 200m: M K1 1000m: M K2 1000m:
