To take a break from the virus talk, here is a quick summary for the Asian countries so far, compared to 2016.

Of course they can add quotas from the world qualifier.

Well India have a chance to make history.... No country ( after the women's have been added) has ever qualified a full 13 member team..... Kaz in 2016 got 12 and US in 2012 had qualified 12 .... Can India do 13 ..

... In my opinion we can easily qualify the two lighter weights in both woman ( sonia instead if sakshi) and men ( gaurav) ... It is the 81 and 91 men which is tough...... Sumit Sangwan ( in place of Naman) and? ...... Exciting prospect is Vijender ( Olympic bronze medallist of beijing) who turned pro and is now one of the leading middle weights in the world...... He has said that he is interested and has said if he is given exemption from camps he will be happy to fight for national selection....... Wow hope that happens as this is a chance to make history for India......

And back to the virus, the Americas qualifier in Argentina is postponed

Mexican government may offer to host it; after all, this is one of the few sports that received a "blessing" from our Lord and Savior senile president, despite being one of the most corrupt sport federations in the country.

After all, today they announced they'll welcome any flight and any person, even if they show infection signs, because they're so "loving" and "compassionate" towards others; meanwhile the same government has left millions of people without proper medical treatments, most relevant for cancer patients, while giving away that money to useless youth that doesn't work nor study because they don't want to. And still there's people who thought I was an idiot because in other post I say, and I still mantain, that Mexico needs a military coup more than ever, as this regiime has sacked or kidnapped every independent body that could allow ordinary citizens to follow legal action against corruption.

And here's the confirmation, with my city as the venue.

Article in Spanish

Update: they may have to find an alternate venue, probably in an officialist city, as the governor of the State of Jalisco has voiced its reservation to hosting sports events in the state.

I'm not laughing at the situation in Mexico, rather the stupidity of your government...

I think this is some form of cruel destiny joke, a la Classic Greek Theatre.

With the former government, and especially our dumb President who barely read, we asked if we could be governed by someone more imbecile.  Wish granted. And among the most corrupt of them all, our new Sports Director, former silver medalist Ana Guevara.

Well she's been in public charges as soon as she retired in 2007, after denouncing corruption in the Mexican athletics federation and collusion from the government and Olympic Committee.

She was named Director of Sport in Mexico City a couple of months before Beijing, but had the nerve to take a paid leave as she was offered an anchor position by the largest Mexican broadcaster to cover track and field at that edition of the Summer Olympics.

She continued at that position, without doing anything for the sports community or infrastructure of Mexico City, and then she, a woman with no college education or a background in politics, was elected as Senator as member of MORENA, the current party in power, which is made from old guard members of our former "only party", PRI.

Then after MORENA won the presidential and legislative elections in 2018, as a result of the resentment of a bunch of mediocre people (that sadly forms the relative majority of Mexico's population), she was named National Sports Director.

Since she entered she has been opaque with the handling of her office resources, allowing rampant corruption from the aquatics, boxing, tae kwon do & athletics federations; plus a "close friend", whom I believe is her actual domestic partner, has a PR firm that manages the only sportspeople in the country that weren't affected by the elimination of the scholarships.

So, in summary, she's a scoundrel who deserves to be publicly shamed and then drawn and quartered, along 98% members of her party.
