phelps 6,844 Posted May 7, 2021 #71 Share Posted May 7, 2021 shameful, nightmerish outing by Simone Alessio in round 1 against the unknown Dodevski from MKD... he was very lucky and won just by 1 point (10-9), but he did absolutely nothing...tbh, he didn't even deserve to win this match... surely, in the next round he's going to be eliminated if he repeats a performance like this one... MHSN 3,206 Posted May 7, 2021 #72 Share Posted May 7, 2021 all of 4 former Iranians are already out and they are losing to everybody. only Pouryounes managed to not lose in the first round but she just host her QF to Romania. but Israel has a good chance to qualify in women's 49kg, (one of the weights we are going to send a competitor to the AQT) and she looked very good, dominating the 1st seed from Russia. but still it's too early to think about that. none of them are even qualified yet. Well she also looked great at the European championships few month ago , She and her Boyfriend Nimrod (who will compete tomorrow) improved a lot during this last year

Füredi is also match away from the quota! What an unexpected turn of events, we are suddenly closer to quotas in taekwondo than in wrestling. Vektor 3,195 Posted May 7, 2021 #79 Share Posted May 7, 2021 btw, are younger athletes strong in this sport? I mean, Salim is a new European champion and Ravet is also a new European champion, and they are really young. Salim is 17, Ravet is 18 years old, and maybe they would have qualified from the ranking if it wouldn't have been closed in 2019 and there would be competitions like in judo. Seems a bit unfair to young athletes that the ranking was closed so long ago if teenagers can just suddenly appear in taekwondo and win continental championships.
