Here is FEI's statement on the investigation of Villeneuve-Loubet and Damascus competitions.

 

"The updated Schedules for these three events were submitted to the FEI by the French National Federation and were mistakenly approved by the FEI."

 

Hilarious.

Mistakenly or not, they were approved. I'd give 99,9% of chance for a succesful :SRI appeal in CAS.

She really should win this case. IF just can't make a mistake and then blame the event organizers and punish the athletes. What the hell is that?

 

You also have to keep in mind that athletes are planning their season based on these schedules (approved schedules). Karlsson was for example entered for both Liverpool and Villeneuve-Loubet after Christmas. Eventually she chose V-L, most likely because their approved schedule was more beneficial.

This reminds me of IBSF (then Fibt) forgetting Australia in women's bobsleigh in 2010. They owned up to it and allowed the country that replaced them (Ireland) to also compete with IOC approval.
