dcro 10,179 Posted February 4, 2020 Author #431 Share Posted February 4, 2020 Well, things are not looking bright for Norwegian dressage. Antonia Jacobsen & Danny have one MER result from last year, however Danny has since been retired. This leaves them with nothing. Norwegian Horse Festival is scheduled for next week however, so it will be interesting to see if someone can obtain 66% MER. #banbestmen

dcro 10,179 Posted February 12, 2020 Author #435 Share Posted February 12, 2020 Something that I forgot to share here... FEI has decided to shorten the Olympic cross-country course to just 8 minutes. It will not be the shortest Olympic course ever (they already did the same in Hong Kong), but nevertheless it's disappointing... The course will now be easier for sure, but optimum time should be harder to attain, as it was in 2008 when nobody came within 20 seconds of it. It's because when they shorten the course, they mostly remove galloping sections rather than jumps. This also means we may see some horses that tend to struggle with stamina (Kim Severson's Cooley Cross Border definitely comes to mind...). #banbestmen

And to follow up on this - things are still not looking good. https://online.equipe.com/en/class_sections/486318 Farbrot & Red Rebel have talent, but no piaffe/passage. Others are essentially amateurs anyway. I guess the last Norwegian hope could be Germany-based professional Isabel Freese, but only if free Olympic quota attracts her attention. Meanwhile... Based on this, we can assume that FEI has informed nations of their individual quota places this week. We shall soon know if there are any reallocations. #banbestmen
dcro 10,179 Posted February 17, 2020 Author #438 Share Posted February 17, 2020 (edited) *BREAKING NEWS* Qatar got disqualified from the Group F qualification event, so Morocco is now qualified... Mathilda Karlsson lost a bunch of points from Villeneuve-Loubet. Her quota now goes to Hong Kong, while Sri Lanka is only the second reserve... Following this, we effectivelly lose two participating nations. It's rather unfortunate, even though Morocco having a jumping team is a nice novelty. dcro 10,179 Posted February 17, 2020 Author #439 Share Posted February 17, 2020 FEI confirmed the individual qualifiers here. https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Tokyo 2020 - Qualification System - DRESSAGE - 17February2020.pdf https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Tokyo 2020 - Qualification System - EVENTING - 17February2020.pdf https://inside.fei.org/system/files/Tokyo 2020 - Qualification System - JUMPING -17February2020.pdf Some of these reserve lists make no sense whatsoever though. It's as if they were made using random pick generator or something. They completely left out Italy in dressage (?). Malaysia and Greece are for some very weird reason listed as 1st and 2nd reserves for the overall Olympic rankings in dressage. Kazakhstan and Lithuania are magic reserves for eventing's Group C (if it stays like that, they will be really hoping for Russian blanket ban ). #banbestmen
