Slovakia 2452 (+6) Romania 2398 (+70) If the same happens in Nove Mesto, Romania would take over that last spot. Slovakia is probably destined to add the minimum 6 (or 9) points, in which case Romania (Dascalu) has to finish 22nd (or 21st) to go ahead. I think no one has mentioned it yet but this race within the race could prove to be very important to the Olympic race in itself ... As we speak is 32nd in the rankings and therefore will not earn any spot thanks to it, whatever Tom Pidcock does in NMNM. So Pidcock, a man we can consider as a top notch outsider for the medals, even the title, is currently out of the Games. But, if Dascalu should repeat this top 20 and overtake Slovakia in the process, then Romania would be qualified via the rankings, thus releasing its U23 2019 WC quota (earned by Dascalu), which would transfer to the next athlete in this race from a non already qualified country ... Cmon Mary 11 Posted May 12, 2021 #73 Share Posted May 12, 2021 Can anyone find the Olympic Rankings on the UCI/MTB site? They used to be on the same page as the other World rankings (https://www.uci.org/mountain-bike/rankings ) but seem to have disappeared. Pretty crucial to work out what the official position is ahead of the last ranking event and after last weekend.

No. Double starts are not allowed unless the NOC qualified in both disciplines. And even so, given the schedule, I don't see anyone starting in both road and MTB... #banbestmen

Don't think so. As Dcro said I'm pretty sure you need to have a quota in the discipline to do so. If not, what is the purpose of the qualification phase and the limited field ? Concerning the fake start I don't know if the rule has changed. I know we did it in 2012 to register a Keirin specialist (M.Bourgain) not taking part in the team sprint, but the Keirin quota did exist. Hard to make much more than the "bona fide effort"... Olympian1010 7,470 Posted May 12, 2021 #79 Share Posted May 12, 2021 From the section of the qualification document entitled “Reserve Athletes” Quote Competing athletes, who have an Aa accreditation and who are entered by their NOC in any cycling event, may be selected to replace another entered athlete in a different cycling discipline/event until the time of the final confirmation for that event. “Sport has the power to change the world. I definitely see Pidcock at the start of the Olympic MTB race...
