JoshMartini007 2,131 Posted October 10, 2019 #41 Share Posted October 10, 2019 Yeah, if the ranking was just the combined rankings of the top four players or even something less excessive such as the top 10 players it wouldn't be so bad. No one should expect the 100th ranked person of a nation to have a chance at qualifying to the Olympics.
dcro 10,172 Posted October 11, 2019 #42 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Apparently Mongolia organized three tournaments on October 9. #banbestmen
dcro 10,172 Posted October 11, 2019 #43 Share Posted October 11, 2019 So Mongolia earned new 400k points yesterday, as did Iran. #banbestmen
JoshMartini007 2,131 Posted October 11, 2019 #44 Share Posted October 11, 2019 At this rate, they'll both surpass China and qualify (only a maximum of two nations from the same continent can qualify via the rankings)
Dunadan 1,103 Posted October 11, 2019 #45 Share Posted October 11, 2019 Yesterday was indeed an awesome day for the Mongolian league with 4 tournaments and 400,000 points gained. Today they played only 3 tournaments, rumor has it that players asked for a lunch break. Hopefully this selfish act won't hurt their chances to qualify. LDOG 2,181 Posted October 11, 2019 #46 Share Posted October 11, 2019 What was the reason to accept this in the olympics? It's too new and underdeveloped, there barely are any 3x3 specialists. It took rugby sevens like 20 years of having an established world series to be accepted in the games. FIBA invented this trash in one day and the next they are accepted by IOC??? hckošice
dcro 10,172 Posted October 11, 2019 #47 Share Posted October 11, 2019 This is how you qualify for the Olympics folks. #banbestmen
Olympian1010 7,418 Posted October 11, 2019 #48 Share Posted October 11, 2019 I wouldn’t say the sport is underdeveloped. It’s completely the IOC’s and more likely FIBA’s fault for a allowing the qualification system to be exploited like this. It’s shameful. “Sport has the power to change the world. FIBA invented this trash in one day and the next they are accepted by IOC??? tbh, there's nothing new or underdeveloped in 3x3 basketball...but this isn't the real 3x3 basketball, the same kind of game you can find in all the playgrounds around the world (and especially the big US cities, NY and L.A. above all)... it's just the same fiba basketball, but played by only 3 men/women per team... and this qualification system is just criminal...to say the least...
