RobtheAggie 337 Posted September 30, 2021 #64 Share Posted September 30, 2021 Campbell Wright of New Zealand was given one of two wildcard spots for the first two rounds on the World Cup. He is now 19 years old. If he were to earn enough points, he would be the 2nd Olympic biathlete from New Zealand. Diana Sidorova, a Russian biathlete, is attempting to get her Ukrainian citizenship in time for the World University Games in December.

Problem is he’ll also have to meet the very strict NZ national qualifying criteria - effectively world level top 12 or something, like RobtheAggie

RobtheAggie 337 Posted October 1, 2021 #68 Share Posted October 1, 2021 I think that I saw that Kahlili did not race, and Garanachev is in some hot water as well.
Monzanator 3,569 Posted October 1, 2021 #69 Share Posted October 1, 2021 Karolina Piton said she will retire after the upcoming season. She was merely depth member of the squad in the last decade, never scored a single point at the World Cup level (PB is 44th in Nove Mesto pursuit back in 2015). Werloc 3,125 Posted October 1, 2021 #70 Share Posted October 1, 2021 On Saturday and Sunday, a Baltic biathlon cup is being held in Ignalina, Lithuania. This is the very first international biathlon race for independent Lithuania ever and it's going to be the debut for our new shooting range that took probably a decade to be finalised. There will be athletes from Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Finland joining the Lithuanian biathlon squad. With this new infrastructure and the ability to host official races without having to go to Otepaa (EST) or Madonna (LAT), perhaps we'll have a wave of newcomers in the sport in time, especially since Ignalina has strong winter sport traditions in Lithuania.
