I read an interview Coe gave a while back, and he said the additional time was likely the culprit for why so many athletes are reaching the standards. World Athletics only intended for about 50% of entries for each event to reach the standard, but with effectively two full seasons to qualify, more athletes have been able to do so. That was his two cents on the topic anyway. I think he is partially right. the entry standards in athletics are really hard, but the long qualification contributes to the fact so many athletes achieve it. The other part no one wants to talk about: you could do a lot of things unobserved in 2020 and has nothing to do with new shoes dodge

A large chunk of that extra time didn’t have any competition (times gained in a period of nearly 8 months weren’t counted) and it’s only at long distances really. The marathon is way over subscribed It’s the shoes NearPup

Those are not exceptions. If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
