Lizzie Deignan also said she thought the Dutch won it :d

Seems the entire group was left without any clue whatsoever. And nobody there paid attention neither.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

That absolutely used to be a standard tactic up until back in the 1980s.  I remember seeing it happening in a Tour of Croatia about 7 or 8 years ago, but never since then.

Van der Breggen said they (everyone in the group, basically) thought they had taken back everyone from the lead group once Plichta and Shapira were caught, they miscounted.

They also saw 1:35 on some screen or sign or something, and they thought it was the distance to the lead, which would have been no problem, but it was the gap between Kiesenhofer and the early chase.

If so, it's still not unprecedented, as the same thing already happened with Jennie Longo in 1992.

It once cost Robert Millar the Vuelta.  He had chased down a break of Spanish riders, caught the remnants, and none of the other guys told them there was still another Spanish rider down the road.

That's absolutely disaster for organisators. There should be some motocycling showing the right times and groups or at least at the first passing the finish line.

Sure, but it's also up to the riders. They can get back to the team car for some info, but of course in the final of the race you're not gonna do that. They could have done so early enough though. Plus, count right.

Van Vleuten: "The last information we received was before my fall, and was that there was a lead group and we had to start the real fight earlier than planned."

Which they did.

Before her fall? There is a video evidence of her asking the cameraman for time gaps.
