That's both good and kinda annoying for Berecz, Race 10 was his opportunity to make a play for the gold because Scott finally had a bad one. The gold is a bit closer to him (9 points) than the 4th place (10 points), both are equally plausible, depending on who fucks up the medal race. 

 

So for Berecz to win the gold there has to be 3 boats between them and Berecz has to be ahead, which also means that if Scott finishes in the Top4 on the medal race, he definitely wins the gold.

Top 5 is good enough for Scott as Berecz has to finish five places ahead of him. In your scenario if Berecz won the race he would have 37+2=39 pts and if Scott were 5th he would have 28+10=38 pts.
