We were given no chance in Fencing, Sailing n swimming but still we made it through achieving quota and not by invitation. We need a well thought plan to execute n then results in 3-4 years. Its not like individual sport were a super brilliant can make difference. We lack process from junior to senior and correct investment from age 11 to senior is needed in all sports. We have started which would take another 3-4 years to yield results. Tokyo - 2020 Go India Go

I'm all for sports like fencing and swimming where we are starting to show good signs without much investment let's push for those, but just because a sport is most popular in the world we cannot keep investing when media can contribute more towards athletics and other upcoming sports, we know we have no future in football, why not invest more in TT, Badminton, Hockey and other sports, what is China's strategy on football vs other sports? Its not like we don't have in us to make a good team. Only issue is from young age we don't have systematic approach like fitness regime n tactical coaching. These 2 are the important aspect were we lack in international football. I myself was an ex footballer n know what we get in junior levels. We have just started with academies for juniors so it would take at least 5-6 years to grow up. Sanjib 1 Tokyo - 2020 Go India Go

I will personally not mind cutting down money on men's and boy's football and use it on girls and Women's football. The team looked amazing in the Amazon tournament only that they lacked fitness conceding late against Chile and Venezuela and also had Brazil locked for a long time in the match. A 2nd string Indian women's team(Railways) lost to Manipur (no long camps no money) at National Championship yesterday.

We have to learn from Thailand where the women are given full time contracts in team sports while men where funded for some time but didn't show promise. Look at their women's cricket, football and volleyball teams all have made it to the World Cup within 4 years of full time contracts.
