Do we have a chance for the team quota in Men's TT...Till recently we used to talk of whether a single quota is possible then we talked of a 2nd once....I am too eager :pnow and proud:) to ask if we can sneak in for the team quota..

Whatever maybe...Proud of the TT team for getting extra quotas...

Special thanks to the Asian TT Federation of using brains and getting such qualification to get maximum Asian countries to sneak in inside the framework...

FIH Hockey World League 2016-17 has begun...

Indian Men's Team have got a bye to the 3rd Round to be played in June-July 2017 and fianls to be hosted by India in December 2017...So India again guaranteed a spot in the Finals, though this time we could earn it rather than allocation.

Indian Women's Team have got a bye to the 2nd Round and would be playing their Rd2 in Canada from March- April 2017.

It's very tough.. Men's Team is ranked 21st.. 9 highest rank teams after the continental quotas (1 each for 5 continents) & host nation will go through.. So I don't think we can. Australia who is ranked 57th got through continental quota. So that again push India further down

No African and North American team is above us, so that is also problematic. But, it is closer as IIRC, team quotas will be allocated to teams with 2 qualified athletes first. So, if some team above us qualifies only one athlete, then we are ahead of them for team qualification.

actually Indian mens team is ranked 18th

as per ittf

http://www.ittf.com/ittf_ranking/ittf_team_ranking.html

from the sixteen team quotas remove 3 countries  who will be below us in rank  ( NAmerica . Latin America and Africa ) who will be below us  ( this is assuming Host country quota is added back and brazil tops which is likely to do )

we need to be in the top 13 positions in terms of countries who have two quota places

now let us remove the surefire names

Germany

Portugal

Japan

Korea

China

Sweden

so it depends on the next 7 seats ........................so it depends on the remaining countries getting 2 quota places based on european qualification / ittf ranking

France / Austria / russia / poland/ Croatia / czech / denmark / taiwan/ greece / england  ... if any  four of these countries do not get 2 quota places we will get a team quota ,..... of these only russia has  single quota ( with three quota places left in europe and then ranking places ) ... I feel quite a few of these countries will not get a second quota .......................so India has a reasonable chance
