Here's a toast to ruthless dictators! :woohoo:

This pretty much sums up the last 5 years of global politics. :(

Vladko Putin is going to pass a new law, which will allow him to be President until 2036, when he will be 83 years old.   The guy can truly do it all.

Why only till 2036? Maybe he wants to retire just after hosting the Olympics for a last time?

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Yep, definitely free, fair, and transparent elections...?

This is exactly how someone (or a party) justifies killing democracy by rigging an election...

Polish politics is a two-party system for the last 15 years. We're learning from the most experienced democracies very fast indeed :p

Putin doesn't need to rig elections, people there actually do love him in their twisted way :d

Yeah...I highly doubt that...

While in my city (Swarzędz) none of the mayors for last 12 years has been a member of any party, while the deputy, who was interim mayor in 2007-2008 was from another party than the two leading ones.

Who needs Swarzedz when Poznan is ruled by basically the same party since 1989? :p (since Civic Platform & Freedom Union is the same kind of liberal show to begin with). So, it's not even a two-party crap in the biggest city of your region!

OK, so let's count it the other way.

Out of 2475 mayors (whatever we call them in Poland - prezydent, burmistrz, wójt) - 2007 are non-party ones. More to say - PSL has much more mayors than PO, which includes 3 times more of "burmistrz" than PO (while "wójt" is obviously their strongest part of the statistics).
