By the way, only 329 events by the looks of it? So things get added, which means more than 10 events will be dropped compared to Tokyo? Eight of those coming from karate, one being the 50k, baseball/softball....what else?

Fewer weightlifting weight categories.

You may want to see it, but how much time do spend training rhythmic gymnastics?

Why would boys train for a sport where the world doesn't allow them to compete on.

Spain is one of the few countries, not to say the only one, with a stablished men's rhythmic national championships and national league, in individual and teams, and there are thousand of kids taking the sport.

A sport that totally neglets based on gender should not have a place in the Olympics. They have had years and years and years to do something about it, and no one moved. So, why not face the ax?

In terms of being removed without being replaced

8 karate events

4 weightlifting events

2 baseball/softball events

New events which did not replace existing ones

2 breaking events

2 sport climbing events

This gives us a net event count of -10.

Tony Estanguet, head of Paris OC, justifying the inclusion of the young and urban © new sports and the exclusion of karate by their success on social networks...

Is there any possibility of new categories in Skateboarding or Surfing?

As far as I know, Skateboarding has other 4 events which could be in Olympics: Freestyle, Vert, Mega Vert and Downhill

I only see Vert and Downhill with real chances to make it.

Surfing, I remember talking with a ISA member, and he said about plans to add Stand-up Surfing to the Olympics.

The simplest thing would be to drop the extra boxing event (so it's 6+6) and to add the individual apparatus medals for rhythmic gymnastics.

This would be both simple and logical. FIG could also add 2 sets of medals to the group events, so the extra boxing event would not need to be removed and one extra weight category could be added to another sport, presumably weightlifting.

Not sure if it actually is, but shouldn't it be way too late to still add events (or remove them) from the program?

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

Skateboarding downhill, is that what I think it is? Because that'd be extremely awesome :d Sure, not really 'Olympic' or something, but neither is breakdancing and that's on the program.
