I guess he holds a lot of credit with the French selectors, though, so their selection still wouldn't be surprising. French eventing team has favored the French circuit (grand national) this spring for couples considered for the Olympics - probably less incertitudes given the covid + horse rhino context. They even added events like Vittel last week, where all contenders for a team spot competed. Valette is doing good (2nd in Saumur and Pompadour, 4th in Vittel). He is also still our best in dressage but not miles ahead of the others. dcro

dcro 10,172 Posted July 2, 2021 #85 Share Posted July 2, 2021 Well, France will have a hard time defending the two gold medals, especially the one in team jumping, but also the one in team eventing tbh. It will be 0-2 medals. #banbestmen
lea26 32 Posted July 2, 2021 #86 Share Posted July 2, 2021 And, with horses (OC could improve communication on that ), teams are : Dressage: - Alexandre Ayache & Zo What - Morgan Barbançon Mestre & Sir Donnerhall II - Maxime Collard & Cupido PB Reserve: Isabelle Pinto & Hot Chocolat VD Kwaplas de la Gesse Eventing: - Thomas Carlile & Birmane - Nicolas Touzaint & Absolut Gold - Thibaut Vallette LCL & Qing du Briot Reserve: Christopher Six & Totem de Brecey Jumping: - Mathieu Billot & Quel Filou 13 - Nicolas Delmotte & Urvoso du Roch - Pénélope Leprevost & Vancouver de Lanlore Reserve: Simon Delestre & Berlux Z We are not at our strongest in jumping at the moment but it's also the most open competition, a lot can happen, so we'll see. In Rio, we weren't expecting gold either, especially after Ryan's injury and Peneloppe's fall... I'm more confident with eventing, at least for our medal chances, and if everything falls into place, gold again ! And for dressage, we're already happy with having a team
dcro 10,172 Posted July 2, 2021 #87 Share Posted July 2, 2021 No Olympics for Beezie Madden. Not an injury or something of that sort. She just decided, after the Nations Cup today, that her young short-listed horse Garant is not quite ready for an Olympic caliber tournament. dcro 10,172 Posted July 3, 2021 #89 Share Posted July 3, 2021 What is happening?? Another victim of the nationality rules, and this one is from the big leagues. Dinja van Liere celebrated her selection yesterday like this. And today she finds out she can't go as her horse Hermes, is in fact, listed as German owned and therefore ineligible. Quote Since 2018 the 9-year old KWPN licensed stallion Hermes (by Easy Game x Flemmingh) is officially registered in the FEI database as owned by Joop van Uytert, but the FEI has listed Dutchman Van Uytert with a German nationality based on a German living address. ... For the Olympic Games the rule is that by the deadline of 15 January 2021 a part of the horse has to be owned by a person or company with the nationality of the rider. Neither the owner, rider, nor the Dutch Equestrian Federation double checked Hermes' ownership nationality before 15 January 2021. https://www.eurodressage.com/2021/07/03/dinja-van-lieres-hermes-not-eligible-dutch-olympic-team-selection @heywoodu lea26 and CCB 1 1 #banbestmen
dcro 10,172 Posted July 3, 2021 #90 Share Posted July 3, 2021 And just to emphasize, this is all publicly available info... For over two years... https://data.fei.org/Horse/Detail.aspx?p=7579F9AAF0CD23BF345B8DDC831F34BE While I can understand that athletes are not in it for bureaucracy, the federations (and indeed owners) have no such excuse whatsoever... heywoodu 1 #banbestmen
