OlympicsFan 782 Posted August 28, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 28, 2017 (edited) Huge blow to russian figure skating. Apparently Yulia Lipnitskaya ended her career. Adelina Sotnikova is injured and will miss the whole season (including the olympics). I am sure that russia will find other medal contenders, but i am absolutely shocked by the news about Lipnitskaya, she has been one of my favorite athletes ever since the 2014 olympics, now i wont have anyone to cheer for at the olympics, without Lipnitskaya and Asada. Here is a video of the legendary performance by Lipnitskaya from Sochi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke0iusvydl8 Edited August 28, 2017 by OlympicsFan Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached. mrv86 2,924 Posted August 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2017 Mexico can't take it's best skater in women's (the first one to qualify for a Jr World Champs free skate) because she's under the selection age. Meanwhile, Carrillo in men's improved a little bit his FS last weekend at Jr. World Grand Prix... I don't think he will be in contention for a place, but I'll be happy with a new PB in either program and of course in total.

I hope she can recover and get well again, sooner or later (possibly as soon as possible)... George_D
