btw, Milák said today that he will try "all" the events (in freestyle and butterfly) at the ECh, he will even swim in 400m freestyle. He also said that the Games will have  a less risky program from him, so probably the two butterfly events and maybe one in freestyle (plus the relays if we will be in the final).

@OlympicsFan Okay, it looks like you will be right about Milák and 100m freestyle. :) Apparently Csaba Sós will announce the Hungarian Olympic Swimming team on Wednesday, and there are two events where he will leave one spot open for now: men's 200m freestyle and men's 200m medley. Which means that he must be considering Milák for 200m freestyle, and I very much doubt that he would have Milák up for 4 individual events. The two open spots exist mostly because Cseh and Kozma were weak at the National Championships and they need to improve ASAP.

Well, here we go, the provisional Hungarian Olympic Swimming Team was announced. There are a few substitutes if one of the named swimmers refuse to enter in the given event. In men's 200m freestyle and 200m medley the final decision hasn't been made yet. This list also doesn't include swimmers with OSTs for obvious reasons.

Men's

50m freestyle - Maxim Lobanovszkij

100m freestyle - Kristóf Milák, Nándor Németh (substitute: Szebasztián Szabó)

200m freestyle - [Kristóf Milák and/or Nándor Németh and/or Dominik Kozma]

400m freestyle - Gábor Zombori

800m freestyle - Ákos Kalmár

1500m freestyle - Ákos Kalmár, Gergely Gyurta

100m backstroke - Richárd Bohus, Ádám Telegdy

200m backstroke - Ádám Telegdy

100m butterfly - Kristóf Milák, Szebasztián Szabó

200m butterfly - Kristóf Milák, Tamás Kenderesi

200m medley - Hubert Kós, [László Cseh or Péter Bernek]

400m medley - Dávid Verrasztó, Péter Bernek

Women's

200m freestyle - Katinka Hosszú

400m freestyle - Ajna Késely (substitutes: Katinka Hosszú, Boglárka Kapás)

800m freestyle - Ajna Késely

1500m freestyle - Ajna Késely, Boglárka Kapás (substitute: Viktória Mihályvári-Farkas)

100m backstroke - Katinka Hosszú, Katalin Burián

200m backstroke - Katinka Hosszú, Katalin Burián (substitute: Eszter Szabó-Feltóthy)

200m breaststroke - Eszter Békési

100m butterfly - Katinka Hosszú

200m butterfly - Katinka Hosszú, Boglárka Kapás (substitute: Zsuzsanna Jakabos)

200m medley - Katinka Hosszú, Dalma Sebestyén

400m medley - Katinka Hosszú

Hosszú will obviously not enter in 7 individual events in the end (I hope). Milák now has the freedom to decide if he wants to do 100m freestyle, Sós gave his blessing.

The team will be finalized after June 19 (the final day of the Budapest Open).

They also announced that 56 Hungarian swimmers will compete at the European Championships.

best of day #1

Freya Anderson winning the women's 200m Free in 1.56.80 (qualification standard by British Swimming), Kieran Bird qualifying in the men's 400m Free in 3.46.00, Aimee Wilmott also qualified in the women's 400 IM in 4.35.80, Harriet Jones earning the flight to Japan in the women's 100m Fly in 57.79 and finally the 2 "bombs", the world leading time by Adam Peaty in the men's 100m Breast (57.39, he's already officially named for the Olympics together with James Wilby in this discipline) and by Duncan Scott in the men's 200m IM, a stunning 1.55.90 (also Joe Litchfield qualified in this race with his 2nd place in 1.57.74)...

Day #2 Highlights

- James Guy, men's 200m Fly in 1.55.20 (Olympic qualification standard, literally dying in the last 10 meters or so after 180m on pace for a 1.53 swim, if not better...crazy 24.7 split at 50m)...

- Kathleen Dawson, women's 100m Back in 58.24, OQS (also the 2nd ranked, Cassie Wild, went below the OQS with 59.51)...

- Molly Renshaw, women's 200m Breast in 2.20.89, British record (and OQS, of course)...and also here the 2nd ranked, Abbie Wood, qualified to the Games with a great clocking of 2.21.69

pretty average races instead over the men's 100m Back and both genders' 800m Free (no qualifying standards matched)...
