Makedonas 1,560 Posted February 10, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2021 Ieva Adomaviciute of Lithuania has been suspended for anti-doping violations. She will miss the Tokyo Olympics. She won gold in the women's double sculls at the 2018 World Championships. I guess Lithuania keeps their quota place?

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Grassmarket 2,715 Posted April 4, 2021 #5 Share Posted April 4, 2021 Just caught up. Two great races, not the processions we sometimes get. Incidentally, all that land there is polder - the town of Ely was an island & all the rest was dangerous malarial swamp until the mid 19th century. Werloc 3,125 Posted April 4, 2021 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2021 Donata Karaliūnaitė, the athlete that won the Olympic medal together with Milda Valčiukaitė has come back from retirement. Valčiukaitė was recently injured, but recovering well and it was said that Karaliūnaitė is starting to look even better than before, so safe to say that Lithuania is still going to be a threat in the women's double sculls. If Ieva didn't get suspended, would Donata have competed in the single sculls instead?

I think her comeback might've been inspired by the fact that the federation knew that Ieva wouldn't be let off the hook, even if the prohibited substance was consumed accidentally, so they organised a plan B since there was already an Olympic quota. But that's just my take Makedonas
