You have spoken, or written, an almost forbidden word, I'm afraid

Sinterklaas is still allowed. Only his (now forbidden) companion is that one who-should-not-be-named haha

I hope you add that story to the contest btw, it's very interesting and funny the whole tradition (even without the black part)

It should absolutely be part of it, but since people have managed to turn a children's party into something resulting in big online fights and people actually threatening with violence (in locations where children are celebrating, which they use as perfect opportunity to basically call these children every kind of monster they can think of), I think I'll refrain from doing so. It's a little sad, because it is as typical Dutch as things get, but that's life. I'll save everyone some kruidnoten though.

If you'd like to help our fellow Totallympics member Bruna Moura get to the 2026 Winter Olympics, after her car crash on the way to the 2022 Olympics, every tiny bit of help would be greatly appreciated! Full story and how to help can be found here!

I actually like the tradition (the whole of it) so much that me and my portuguese friends use to go every year to watch the arrival and parade (in Amersfoort) just as if we were kids haha  (i even participated myself in one parade, giving kruidnoten and mandarijnen to the kids )

There's a nice video from "Survival Guide to the Dutch" (youtube canal with funny videos) explaining it in a nice way, i'll probably won't resist on sharing it later as I think it's really nice and unique! :d

Edit: this will actually be the first year where we won't attend the parade :X

Soo... What about the timetable? :p

It’s @heywoodu time, so it’s all relative really.

I'm just hoping our welcome gifts include some Edam, Gouda and Leyden cheese :toast:

I'll go for the stroopwafeln and beer instead! :p

Oh and... :DEN  will do their best to participate. We'll see how when it comes to finding the best way for people to hear the song.

Why was all Danish music taken off YouTube?

I have used a free VPN for Youtube in the last month or so. Usually I'm using a British or American server and I can listen to almost all Danish songs. However I'm not sure if other countries have access to Danish songs to the same extent?
