Summer Olympic Games 2016 Unqualified NOCs

Sadly Turkmenistan are the only non-qualified nation to reach the Asia/Oceania Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament Quarterfinals. They have 5 athletes in the quarterfinals so things are looking good for Turkmenistan to finally qualify an athlete to Rio 2016.

Sadly Bhutan have not entered their boxer who qualified for the World Championships (Tashi Norbu), he might have had a slim chance to qualify but it now seems like Bhutan will have to rely on a wild card invitation to compete at Rio 2016.

At the 2016 Olympic Wrestling African & Oceania Qualification Tournament :PLW Palau have a chance to qualify through Florian Temengil in the Men's 125kg Freestyle and 130kg Greco-Roman. There is also a strong chance for :GBS through Midana. Hopefully there can be a couple of suprises and a reduced dominance of North Africa in the Olympic Qualification tournament. In the Women's -69kg there are currently only 5 entrants, one of those is from :CHA Chad, so with a bit of luck she has an outside chance to win a quota if the entry list does not grow.

Of course, do you think he will have a better chance there than he did here though?

He and other boxers from Turkmenistan will have a good chance, Asia is pretty depleted now as is the other continents. It'll likely come down to what the bracket looks like.

Hopefully Pakistan will solve its issues and will send athletes to the final tournament as well, though qualification is unlikely (did Muhammad Waseem go pro?).

Tomorrow Sierra Leone has a bye into the Women's -75kg Freestyle Wrestling Semi-Final. She will face the winner of Algeria vs Egypt. That gives her a chance to qualify!!

I've added her. It'll be quite the upset if she wins though, but crazier things have happened in a single match.

The girl from Chad in the Women's -69 Free Wrestling has beaten the African Championship Bronze medallist from Tunisia and will now face Egyptian Ahmed in the semi-final (who has not competed since February 2014. A great chance for Chad to cause an upset and qualify for Rio.
